Prospect Info: Current #2 overall poll and discussion

It’s not about either, imo.

He’s putting out info the MTL organization wants out there. Why do they want it out there? We don’t know, we can only speculate.

In the space of a few hours this morning, we've seen rumors of us being interested in Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec, Jiricek, and even Kasper at #2. Getting ridiculous now.

I feel like I've said this every day for the past week, but the draft really can't get here fast enough.

When we were out of the playoff race: "Screw the draft this year. I don't want to know anything about it".

Then we win #2: "Ok maybe I'll take a look at Slafkovsky, Nemec, and Jiricek but other than that idc".

Then there's rumors of us trading #2: "Damn OK I guess I'll watch just a bit of Cooley and Savoie. And maybe wind up on page 9 of Google for scouting reports"

Then Slaf plays nuts at the WC: "WTF now I have to watch Wright play. Also STI is high on this Gauthier kid? My wife is going to gut punch me"

Today, reading Pronman's article: "Looks like I'm going on a Kasper bender..."

I'm sure I did all of this just to watch MTL take Wright and us take Slaf -.-

Definitely an odd year in that the consensus #1 through much of the year followed up a year in which he barely played with a good but not overwhelming season. Kind of reminiscent of Patrick.

Slaf having ho-hum Liga #'s I imagine is pretty rare for a #2oa as well.

I’m just not going to get worked up about who we pick because no one has a clue who will turn out the best. Even the hobby scouts. We still won’t even know a year or two after the draft. I’m just excited for the spectacle.

You forgot the step where we looked at prospects further down the list when we thought we would pick 5/6/7.
I started off thinking Jiricek / Nemec coild be our target , then it looked like Philly would slide us down to #6 , so I looked at other targets and watched video of them. Then we win the lotto , and had my mind set on Slaf . Then all the movement with Wright going from consensus #1 to maybe Slaf …. to maybe Habs go Cooley , or they trade their pick…or they trade for our pick … or we trade down …or we trade it outright …

I can’t wait for the draft to be over.

Hughes was pretty much a sure thing, the Kakko speculation was just noise. Nico was indeed really close though.

I never really felt like Ray liked Nolan. It seemed decently clear to me throughout that Nico was our guy. It sucks that I even have to worry about Kasper but he fits for Fitz so it makes it worrisome

I tend to agree. But back when we moved up and got Larsson - that was god's gift at the time.

EDIT: But yes, we never get the powerball winnings of $200m. It's alays the Pick 5 of like $20m

Wright has met with Habs management before, a dinner I believe as did Cooley. Slaf was the only one out of three that didn't.

I don't think Montreal is trying to play 3D chess here with layers upon layers of meaning to their every move. This is probably a due diligence thing that they're meeting with Slafkovsky again, a final look to make sure of their decision.
