Ya but your mascot is a guy in a pig suit, not a real pig.

So will the Canadian team have 0 fans in the stands for 'home ice' and then go down to the US and face a crowd of 12,000 or more?
What are the odds that the leafs play in an arena in the US without leaf fans showing up?

Actually, it’s because Wendell Murphy, pork mogul, gave millions to NC State and owned the original naming rights to the PNC Center (the RBC Center at the time). He got $22 million donated towards building the arena.

When the Hurricanes moved here, they wanted to recognize his efforts. Thus, the mascot became a hog and Stormy was born shortly after.

lol there isn’t even a wendell murphy in nc

I grew up in MA. I remember in the 1980s we had a nasty one and my brothers had to grab me because I started flying away. In 1953, I think it was Hurricane Edna, one almost killed my sister by inches from falling debris everywhere. If I remember correctly from my studies and sailing on large ships for my career, most of hurricanes go up the eastern seaboard, not into the Gulf Coast. But when they do go into the Gulf, they tend to be nastier than up the Eastern seaboard. But the point is....why are they called the Hurricanes again? :sarcasm: Maybe, you all should have stuck with The Whale. :thumbd:
Bob? Or was that a few years before that one hit. I was still living in the region for that one and it was quite nasty. Though the October storm was even worse. Of course those were category 2 and 1 respectively so as we know from our Mississippi friend they don't really count :sarcasm:

I'm voting Florida crowd, but if you paid attention you'd see that many are Lightning fans :DD
No where near as many as there usually is, at least at game 1 which I attended. The ones that were there did remember to bring their rats, though. o_O

I'm glad Florida did well to reduce ticket purchasers to mostly their fans, I think both fanbases are sick of seeing out of towners in their home arena. Having said that, I seen one section with nothing but blue sweaters.

I don’t know if Panthers did anything different with ticket sales, I think it’s more that they’re finally showing the “locals” that they’re not a joke and a waste of time/money any longer. Maybe the reduced capacity had something to do with it, but it was no where near as loud as it has been in the past when TB scored.
Both teams will always have a lot of the visitors’ fans in the building, they all can’t wait to visit, if not move to, Florida. Most people here are from somewhere else, and the majority of them will never lose their allegiance to their “home” team.

Toronto playoff crowd is either physically empty seats or spiritually empty seats via company suits staring quietly at their phones and being there just because. So I nominate our crowd as the worst either way.

Glad for the US teams getting the cheering and adrenaline they deserve.

Pittsburgh crowds are a joke. Especially since moving out of the Igloo.

It’s still a morgue??? Jesus. I remember how silent things always were sounding back in the CEC days. Hard to make noise when you’re on your phone texting all game long I guess. :shakehead:shakehead

You’d think after 2 Cup wins since we left the Igloo we’d lighten up and get at least a little rowdy??

Really too bad about the situation in Canada. Leafs/Habs and Jets/Oilers would have been epic with fans.

It is pretty gut wrenching up here man, I am not going to lie to you. It was really, really fun to watch the Predators and Canes tonight, as well as the Avs. It is just so much better and you can feel the atmosphere in your living room. Meanwhile, it was just.....................sad to watch an empty arena with fake fan noise in Edmonton, as well as it will be in Toronto tomorrow. This is all political, and it is too bad because no one is going to see the first Toronto/Montreal match up in 42 years, or more importantly the first one that really has some teeth in it in 54 years.

The arena experience in Toronto is odd. I think you get a better feel of Leafs Nation from fans who drive to Buffalo, Detroit, and Boston to see games.

They did until a hurricane destroyed their arena.

Damn you, Tom Dundon
