Not really worth it to get frustrated or mad at them anymore.
they are simply showing us what they are, a reasonably skilled but lazy and inconsistent team with goal tending that is unable to rise to the occasion .
This core group lack the heart and commitment to be anymore than a team that wins when the games are easy.
I suspect that we will have to do a retool on the fly in the next 2 years

But that’s precisely not what they are showing… they win when the games are harder and lose to middling or bad teams.

The Leafs have the 3rd best record in the NHL against playoff teams by point percentage.

The playoffs are a separate thing but last year was a coin flip, could have gone either way, and this year, we’ve never been in a better position to beat Tampa

Forwards were flat out tired. Defense (hi Lili) wasnt great. No forward line chemistry because Keefe sees himself as a hockey chef, constantly mixing combinations.
On the bright side, AM looked great

Counterfeit coach only there because Dubas and his NuHockey. The whole thing is a miserable experiment wasting contract years of a legit contender. Unless they pull it off, this is going to go down in history as the rebuild that is the example for all other teams... IN WHAT NOT TO DO.

Buffalo is only 6 points behind the Islanders with 2 games in hand, I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs, they certainly are no longer the poor team that they were a couple of months ago.

I agree, they need to win at home.They played great in the 1st period, but couldm't score any goals, which is probably why they lost. The next couple of games they play Colorado and Carolina, with them being strong teams I bet that the Leafs win both or at least play well.

You cannot routinely lose to these bottom feeding teams, it is a MASSIVE red flag Toronto has a character flaw, and I'd argue it's this character flaw that is the main reason Toronto cannot win a playoff round

Toronto scored 2 goals on 3 shots to start the 2nd then totally checked out of the game, it is f***ing pathetic.

I'm sure people will say, "they play well against the best of the league" but that only applies in the regular season because once the playoffs start Toronto hasn't won a f***ing thing

It's shit like this that worries me. Toronto constantly plays down to their opponents, or in case of tonight pretty muched stopped playing after the 3rd shot in the second and whatever reason for this is the same reason Toronto hasn't won a playoff series

Keefe is trying to find which defensive pairs work well together consistently, by not playing any two defencemen together consistently.

Except for Matthews and Marner (who clearly work well together) and JT and Willy (who clearly don't), he's doing the same Mixmaster with the forwards.

I can see the problem with the D, as he has one top pairing, two 4-5, and (I've lost count - eight? nine?) 6-7-8 players. Too many one-dimensional bodies.

Jarnkrok - Lafferty - Nylander look good in their one game together, so they immediately get split up for the next.

JT looks much better on the wing than at centre, so move him back to centre.

Kerfoot looks bad on the top line (look at how Mitch wouldn't even consider passing to him on a 2on1, although I did like the foot pass to AM), but that's the only line that stays intact, at least to start.

Dubas & Keefe can't simply put out a solid, consistent lineup and get players comfortable...they need to overhandle everything.

If you need to dress 7D to hide inefficiencies from guys like Holl or Lilly then perhaps you don't have the right horses.

Leadership/ maturity its both. Thats why they traded for acciari, ror and schenn... hope those guy would be able to push the rest of the team in the right direction come playoff

Don't think Gus was the main piece coming back... and body bagged? We traded our 7th D.

I am sure it will get a lot more silent on that trade when time passes, just like the Marchment trade since he is not having a random career year.
