They should’ve started by actually spending some money on the referendum marketingI really wonder if they had won Bedard if maybe they would have voted yes, maybe there would have been hype in that city for the last week and it would have been enough to get it passed
Betman about to move the team to Mexico City. Huge market with a potential to “develop hockey” and conquer new fans.
well, they've been given all the opportunities times 10.Sad to see.
The fans deserved a lot better. Really sucks to see a fanbase lose their team when they had only a handful of watchable hockey years.
Pretty sure the short notice is not the deal breaker here, they will simply move the team to the most lucrative market. How many cities are really capable to host an NHL club on short notice like that with potential owners ready to acquire a team? This must favor Quebec City that planned everything with the hope that this situation eventually presents itself.
MLS obviouslyPeople will lose their minds but one of the major leagues will eventually expand into Mexico City and whoever does will become very rich.
Both Salt Lake City and KC have arenas, not sure about ownership. How many cities are really capable to host an NHL club on short notice like that with potential owners ready to acquire a team? Highly doubt it. Having the #1 overall pick isn't going to win you a referendum against the concerted opposition of powerful labor unions.

And it won’t happen until 24/25 season.

They will keep the team in the US, I’m pretty sureWhy ? Quebec is ready with an arena that will be full each and every night for 23/24.
We always talk about growing the game. Forget the Hughes, Staals or Sutters; 20 years from now we could have a family of 5-8 brothers all playing in the league at once.Feel really bad for the players who potentially have to move to Utah
I think that was lined up in advance. I think the NHL is caught off guard by this one.I doubt it's too late. The Thrashers moved pretty quickly to Winnipeg in 2011. The team was purchased in May and relocation approved by June.
This. The NHL never wanted to go back to Winnipeg, it happened because they were backed into a corner and had no other options. The two things possibly working in Quebec's favour would be: (1) possibly being the only city with ownership and an arena ready to hit the ground running right away; and (2) if a team relocates to Houston or Atlanta, the NHL misses out on potentially $1 billion in expansion fees they could force those markets to pay.How many cities are really capable to host an NHL club on short notice like that with potential owners ready to acquire a team? Arizona has actually consistently sold out Mullet this year, and were routinely around 8k in the old arena.Atlanta failed like twice , enough. Houston first if not then Quebec.
Arizona been a complete failure for Bettman.
When you can't even fill an arena of 5000 persons , this is just laughable. Why even bother making a new arena.
Either way, no sweat off anyone's back. Bye byeTotally missed the point. What a loser post.
