Rumor: Coyotes still in market for Top 4 defenceman

I'd love to see Max Domi play for the Blues.

What do you think it would take to get the Coyotes intersted in sending Domi and one of Strome or MacInnis to StL?

Everything is fair game except Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, Parayko, and Fabbri.

haha unfortunately if Blues want Domi, one of Parayko or Fabbri will be going the other way. Makes no sense for Blues

For some reason I see them being interested in Marc Staal.

Could Arizona make Staal and Nash work financially? That would kill two birds with one stone.

What a coincidence because my guess is the only thing the Coyotes would take for Domi would be something around one of those 4 players.

Mike Smith + Tobias Rieder

for

Marc Andre Fleury + Derrick Pouliot

Now, I see that Smith has a NTC. Does he need to be protected?

Smith doesn't need to be protected. If it was a NMC then there would be an issue but Smith only held a NMC for first 3 years of his deal.

Knowing that OEL is not moving, it will be very, VERY tough to put up a good enough package for Trouba.
This makes no sense. The Coyotes are trying to add ANOTHER top 4 defenseman, not downgrade one we already have. That's just change for the sake of change. If the Jets deal Trouba, the principle return will be a forward or a package of futures, not another young defenseman 1 for 1. If the Coyotes deal OEL, grab the nearest bible because it's the ****ing rapture and you need to pray for your soul.

What on Earth does this have to do with the Coyotes trying to add a top 4 defenseman?

:dunno:

Sure. Send $60m in un-marked bills in a shipping container to 9400 West Maryland Avenue, Glendale, AZ. And send me like $10k as a brokers fee.

In what world do you think dumping Rick Nash and the abomination of Marc Staal on the Coyotes makes sense? The Rangers are rich, buy them out if they're crap, retain 50% on both if you want to move them in a rebuild. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is "Going Full Millbury" and 10 is "What The Coyotes Are Doing This Summer," ARZ trading for Rick Nash and Marc Staal is about a 1.2.

Rick Nash would be Arizona's best forward if that trade happened. He had a bone bruise last season coming off a season where he scored 42 goals.

The Staal contract is another story, but like I said, for some reason I see Chayka rolling the dice on Staal. He's made some pretty smart moves so far and grabbing effective vets would fall into that category IMO. Obviously NY would take on some off-setting salary but ARI would be adding some salary to their cap.

FYI I'm a fan of neither team but I can realize that a player's salary has absolutely no effect on what he can do on the ice.

Are you serious?

We have OEL and Goligoski on the left side. If we're looking to add a top four D, he needs to be a righty.

And you have Stone, Murphy, Michalek, Schenn and DeAngelo on the right side. The rumor doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

It does when you consider Stone is on a one year deal, Michalek is nowhere near who he used to be and about a year from retirement, Schenn is a complete dice role. DeAngelo hasn't played a full season. Murphy and Stone are really our own sure bets, and one has an unclear future.

Mark Streit would be a good pickup. Shoots left, but can play either side. Only owed 2 million in real money.

The Jets are already freakin' stacked at forward and have no use for additional futures with an overflowing pipeline as it is - and given that they are not rebuilding.

That would be why they are currently negotiating to re-sign Trouba instead of trading him for stuff they don't need.

Staal + Girardi + that teleporter thing from The Fly for Duclair.

Shove Staal and Girardi in there together and hope all their best hockey attributes come out the other end and you'll get MAYBE a top 4 guy.

Of course, there's a chance you'll get a broken kneed, one-eyed traffic cone... so it's a risk.

I think he's the perfect add. When Stone becomes healthy, we get some insurance on the left side in case KConn flops. Problem is that i can't see us parting with what is sure to be a very early 2nd rounder.

I also want Read. But he's really overpaid and I won't give up much for him.
