How about instead of punishing the fans who did nothing wrong they hit Chayka with a massive fine? Would anyone else be on-board with that?

I know fans are indirectly being punished by this, but the main punishment is on the organization itself. If you just fine Chayka, you're letting the organization off the hook. I highly doubt Chayka was the only member of the org that had knowledge that this prospect testing thing was going on.

I have difficulty believing the fine is as harsh if it was Maloney who was guilty. The old boys wanted their pound of flesh from Chayka, and that’s fine.

We have one pick in the top 3 rounds over the next 2 drafts.

If they do what is right and blow this team up tomorrow, I'm not worried about it. By far the worst part is not having your lottery pick in 2021 but that's survivable if you draft well with the picks you get from blowing this up.

The Coyotes can now retain 50% on 3 guys and not give a shit because they will be more concerned with hitting the floor than the ceiling.

The absolute wrong choice would be to stick this out for a year under Tocchet. Everything remotely of value needs to go in the next few weeks, even if it's for a 3rd round pick. The situation is that dire.

This is weirdly enough a good thing for the franchise, as long as they respond to it properly. It essentially forces them into blowing this garbage roster up and trading everyone over 25.

Not having your lottery pick sucks ass but it may inadvertently be the existential crisis the Coyotes need to shake free from mediocrity.

Except Johnny, boy genius, is free to take his illegally acquired data to his new gig and didn't even get a one-year ban to appease Meruelo. He skates free.

I think they'll double down on the playoffs because they don't want to forfeit a lottery pick. It'll be a complete shit show.

exactly. They need to fire the coaching staff, they need an experienced general manager to come clean up this mess, and they need to start trading away the high price players to recoup draft picks. I just hope what needs to be done is done.

They will double the length of their penance march if they don't trade everyone of value in the next month. I think you have to be a massive dumbass to not see this as an owner or GM.

Hoping people are smart this time and just take their medicine.

So they should've had Bettman attach a proactive suspension clause to whomever is dumb enough to hire him going forward, instead of crippling his former organization.

I'm concerned that Murelo thought he was buying a team close to contention. Will he be on board with financing another rebuild?

The next two to three years would, ironically enough, be the perfect time to build a new arena. Bottom out like you're trying to make the Grand Canyon jealous.

is the data any good if this is what it builds?

The only possible positive here is if this forces Maruelo to NUKE the organization. Top to bottom. At this point only Stan Wilson should be safe. Trade literally every player we possibly can. Become a whole new organization.

Is ASU planning to broadcast all of it's games next season? Might be a good time to just say f*** the NHL in general.

Building a new arena would at least help distract fans from the trash we would be icing during the first couple years.

Thanks, I read that before, but it only said players were to wear certain clothing, nothing was said that they worked out specifically for the Coyotes. I guess even if they didn't the NHL views it as misconduct trying to circumvent the rules. That is probably why the penalty is draft picks and not $$ because the rules were not broken.

I just kind of assumed(and I know the trouble that comes with assuming) that they did more than that and the details were just never released. If that's all they truly did, the punishment could be called harsh, but the rules are there for a reason.

I don't get why you all want to blow it up NOW. We don't reap the benefits of a tank. Compete hard this season, try to win a playoff series, give the young players more positive experience. THEN blow the mother ucker to smithereens.

Most players are old enough now without another year. Their value will only decrease. Some will walk from expiring contracts,.

Even if the organization didn't know, Chayka is under contract with the club so the Coyotes assume responsibility.

You generate value by signing players. It's conjured out of thin air, for no return. You can then trade those players for picks, of which there are a set amount and you can't just buy more.

A year from now, a lot of value just magically expires off the roster. You can't let that happen when you desperately need picks.

There are too many important trades and players that cannot risk injury or decline in their play. They have to go this summer. It will be obvious what the Coyotes are doing. There will be no illusions that they are a contender.

I hope Chayka f**ks up all his businesses and loses all that he has worked for. I honestly think that his mindset of ”being smartest guy in the room” will bite his ass big time at some point..

f*** guys. This just hurts.

the last two weeks we got destroyed in the playoffs
Kept RT in a job
Possibly opened the possibility of trading OEL ( my favourite player)
And now we can’t even rebuild.

In any other function of life I’d walk away from some thing that hurts this much. But god damn I am a coyotes fan and I will Be till the end.
