Budaj has performed admirably for us this season. We'd be screwed with out him.

He's a 34 year old career back up that's had a big work load. His stats have been terrible the last 3 or 4 games. I hope he's not breaking down.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Most career backups fizzle out about this point; it's why they can't get the big job. Would be right in line with his 'starter' days unfortunately. Love the dude but he is what he is. Didn't expect him to be Zatkoff tonight though!

Kings will need 40 points to get 100 points. That's 20 wins in the remaining 26 games. That's not happening.

Ah, it didn't sound horrible when they were talking about the Kings getting to 92 points...yeah that's pretty lofty

You know what? I'm gonna say they get to 95. Yeah I know that's high.

Pearson had a good game. Kempe looked pretty good for a rookie in his first game. The rest of the team sucked ****.

I only caught the game at 2-0 but I thought Brown was bringing his testicles to the rink again, Perhaps he's loaned them back from his wife's purse.

Pearson, Carter, Brown best part of the night.

Kopitar showed up late, but it wasn't enough.

Yes, Brown. Frogot about him a second ago. Delivered some big hits, scored a big goal.

Yup. He had a good game too. I give him a lot of credit. It can't be easy for him after everything that happened in the offseason to keep coming and giving his all, but he is. And more goals than Kopitar too. Pretty incredible.

Carter line bought it in the third.

Was Kopitar playing? I got him and Dwight King confused a couple of times.

And then Winona saw the ref do his magic on Toffoli's goal.

The only line that posed as a threat inside the offensive zone blueline. And Kempe. His skating stood out. Everyone else can go get flushed.

Kempe's skating is beautiful. Even faster than Carter. I know that's sacrilege. But he could even control the puck at top speed which was beautiful. He looked more comfortable as the game went on too, which is good, and he clearly has the VISION at least to be a top sixer. AT WORST, he'll be a third liner who can move up, but some of those passes he was making show me a guy who can hang. Only thing I didn't like about his game was he was shy about getting hit. Not about throwing em, though. And in the A, he at least gives shots back and makes sure the opponent who is hitting him feels it, so I'm sure he'll grow into that.

Carter and Brown have always had some sort of magic. I remember agreeing with a few posters who wondered why they weren't together more often. And Pearson is just beautiful.

I dunno, I thought after the first period Kopitar had quite a few shifts where he was balling out. If anything, it was Toffoli who didn't look like he could hang. I think we're getting the old Kopitar back.

Honestly minus the circus that always seems to accompany Coyotes games this team looks like they're waking up collectively into a monster. I just hope Budaj's back can take it until Quick is up to speed...

Looks like Kopitar is the one with the testes missing now.

The playoffs are a pipe dream at this point, unless this team goes on a ridiculous tear, which is highly unlikely.

At least Kempe looks promising. For some reason this loss really bummed me out, its just an accumulation of ****** things happening lately.

I feel like it's going to come down to the last stretch of games in April, just as we saw in 2014-15.

If we see a repeat to the conclusion of how the last two seasons have ended, then a shakeup will be due.

No playoffs, one playoff win and first round exit, and no playoffs in three years, that's just unacceptable.

That was a vintage Brown hit, just murdered him in front of the net.

I agree. I think that's inevitable no matter what kind of run they go on though. The top teams are too far away, but the pack is gonna be there the rest of the year. BUT we do control our own destiny with so many divisional games, and for the rest of the season we have favorable travel and a lot of home games. We'll be in Minnesota on the 27th but other than that and a couple of Western Canada trips, we spend something like 90% of the rest of our games at home or in our time zone.

But i also agree, with getting players healthy and that sort of schedule, if we fall short, something will give.

lol Sutter. More or less saying he'd rather have been one of the few teams that won after the break than the many losers.

Never tell the Kings they have an advantage.

Besides Quick, everyone is in the lineup. But honestly, they really do need a 100% healed up Quick in net. Badly. I think they got all they could ask for out of Budaj. They have to be perfect defensively to win games now.

Yeah I thought that too, he seemed to shrink back a bit along the boards a few times when a yote was inbound. Absolutely love those jets though.

Yup. Minus the expected horrid start, we ran them out of the building playwise. Got wretched goaltending on one end, terrific goaltending on the other, and a ****show by the referees.

Play like that the rest of the season and we're a 100 point + team.

Smith butt ends brown in the face and the refs don't have the balls to even call it a butt end after giving us ZERO power plays up to that point tells you all you need to know about their game tonight.

Rule 606. Butt-Ending. (a) A major plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who “butt-ends†or attempts to “butt-end†an opponent. ... (b) A match penalty for attempt to injure or deliberate injury to an opponent may also be assessed for butt-ending .

That was as visual as you can get.

Yeah thought about that after I typed it  lottery finish inc!

Yeah I wasn't clear but that's what I was saying--they're out of crutches now. Schedule is good, guys are fresh and healthy, youth is in the lineup excited to be here. Have to perform. I did feel for Budaj tonight because you know he cares but I have to agree he's overextended at this point.

Yup. As soon as I saw it I thought it would be a major. Only Brownie's visor stopped that from being potentially gnarly. Clear intent in retaliation, he knew what he was doing. And we had zero power plays at that point. Totally gutless call and Smith gets away scot free yet again.

He was looking right at him when he did it.

Got a bit nostalgic tonight seeing Brown play his guts out AND get the desired results.

Say what you want about his eroding skill and lack of hockey sense at times, but the guy puts in the work in the off season and deserves to see more pucks go in for him.

The Kings need 35 points out of a possible 52 points available to get to 95 points. That's a .673 pace, that's not happening either.

That was a 2012 like performance from Brown. He looks so much better playing with Carter and Pearson.

Agree. Kopitar played well overall. Not sure what game other people were watching.

I don't think Toffoli and Gaborik even got back from Cuba until late Tuesday / early Wednesday and it showed.

People are exaggerating how well Kempe played. He's the shiny new toy.

Based on the highlights the Kings didn't play bad. Got a bad break on the Toffoli goal, sucks but happens. Budaj definitely had an off game, some of those goals were savable and would have kept them in it when they seemed to have the all the momentum, like Sutter always talks about.
