Not a bad contract for M. Pettersson but I dunno If I'd want to give him 6 years.
$5.5m is a really nice cap hit, though.

Yeah that's a steal for sure.$5.5m is a really nice cap hit, though.
we can also afford to give up cossa for pat maroon, that doesn't make it a good trade. cozens sucks and he's expensive for a long time. just because reinhart blew up after getting out of buffalo has zero bearing on cozens potential. there's a reason his name has been involved in trade rumors for months, and it's not because buffalo believes he has 80 point potentialWas looking at some of the teams weekes said was in on cozens I really cant see anyone offering up a top prospect
Leafs? Who do they have in the current roster ? Robertson ...meh cant see them moving Cowan or minten
Habs ... dach? 20 pts always injury prone ... prospects maybe mesar
Flames ...sharangovich? Would they move honzek 20 yrs old ,18 pts in 34 ahl games
Wings
Veleno/berggren current roster prob compher to make cap work
Prospects that might be available for cozens?? I'd say plante/mazur/kiiskinen (can afford to do so with danielson, lombardi, nygaard, buchelnikov, finnie waiting ) cleveland/tuomisto
I'd say we have as good as a shot as anyone cause again no ones giving up a top prospect. Canucks is the real to worry about If they move pettersson
I mean, NHL teams seem terrified to try something like this, a home grown, young defense. But if the Wings wanted to, those six could theoretically be our top six in 26-27. Chia, Gus and Holl will have their contracts expire.Yeah that's a steal for sure.
This is why i want Yzerman to trade for a defenseman like Provorov or Pettersson. These defensemen get locked up where they are traded to, just like Hanifin.
I think we need to get realistic about how much space there is on the roster for the current prospects. For example, Wallinder and Buium, where do they fit in?
Even if they're great, i don't see how this team can have AlJo, ASP, Seider, Ed, Buium and Wallinder in the coming 2 years. You need vets on defense, Yzerman knows this.
These kids are assets that should be used a trade, imo.

Two righties and another guy who is left but plays well on his off hand. Plus by then, wouldn't Mo pretty much be considered a veteran?
I am not saying they will do it, I am not adverse to the right trade. Just saying, if they are all great like you mentioned, they COULD do it. And why not, show some balls and be innovative? Too many crappy mid vets can really stink up a defense.
It’s a bad draft year. I’m all for giving up a 1st for ROR if one of Veleno, Compher or Copp are thrown in.
I get what you are saying but I think the mental factor makes this unlikely. I mean if any team could do it I would lean towards this team because Yzerman/Draper really prioritize the mental aspect when drafting. Seider would also be like 25 by this point, but again I think there is a reason you almost never see super young teams do well in the playoffs. Hockey is definitely a mental grind and it is very easy for young teams to spiral.I mean, NHL teams seem terrified to try something like this, a home grown, young defense. 2022 is looking like a bad draft year too.
I'd take Kasper over a couple years of ROR.
