For me, there is a worry about their obsession with drafting size.
I think that has to do with people on this board. Sure the two kids of last draft were big, but we drafted Cooley. Many picks are average size. I do think they like size, but I would think they like talent better.

Don't forget we were a very small team before BA was hired.

I think Jackey has it exactly right here. We were too small, and all things (like talent) being even, size wins.

Brutal. Doaner deserved a longer look.

Oh well, it happens. Hope he tears up the AHL this year. Excited to get down to Tucson for several games this year.

Szuber sticking around, but Morgan mentioned in his article today that he’s recovering from a minor injury. He’ll be in Tucson eventually.

I'd imagine they know he's not making the team this season, better he's in Tucson for the start of their training camp. He'll establish himself as a leader and get valuable playing time.

I'm in no rush to bring these guys in, cook em. I want these guys grudging like Keller last year about the rebuild, except mad they didn't make the team and going into next camp with an "F you, I'm a stud and I'll show you" mentality. That pressure to perform will come in handy when we're a playoff team, and need to dig deep against the leagues best.

Josh played well and he's raised my expectations...he's no longer limited to a bottom 6 role in my book.

When Carcone fails, he will get his shot and we all know that Carcone is gonna fail.

I'm surprised Doan got sent down so quickly.. I assumed he would eventually but I kinda figured he would get into a couple games at the start and then be sent down.

I say by Christmas though he will have gotten in a handful of games or so

Waiver fodder for Tucson....

Geekie going back to junior....

No surprises.

We have two games until the start of a brutal road trip. We need our NHL roster ready to go. Doan is where he should be. He is developing just fine. His skating has really improved.

I am not convinced Carcone fails. I predict he will outplay Boyd and O’Brien. Carcone is the 12th forward, Boyd and O’Brien will be the 13th and 14th forwards.

I agree. At this stage in their careers, Carcone is neither inferior to Doan nor more likely to fail. In fact, I believe the opposite. However, this will hopefully change.

Doaner needs a season playing against men. He had a stellar camp, so maybe he can captain the Runners.
Doan is progressing nicely. He looked much more comfortable this camp compared to last year. His skating has improved, which I was a bit concerned about. He is positionally sound, just needs more experience, and to add about twenty pounds.

I just wish that Doan and Geekie could play together and build chemistry!
Patience grasshopper.

I think Szuber starts in the AHL to get used to NA ice and is the first callup.
