Expecting a 1st round pick to develop and not regress is pretty realistic to me. He hasn't been impressive since his draft year. It's not like he has been improving, he's completely overwhelmed in the AHL and he's struggled in the ECHL.If he was 5th round pick, people would have realistic expectations. Goalies as a rule of thumb should just be left to develop for a few years until you start paying attention to them. A 19 year old goalie is like a 16 year old forward.
Some of us watch Toledo when Cossa starts, posters would be shocked at the amount of soft goals he allows. Like last night for instance, the 1st/3rd goals he could do nothing about, but the 2nd goal was extremely soft, letting in an unscreened shot off the rush on the ice. Or Friday, where he allowed three goals. The first two could've been saved and the 3rd one was a backhand shot from the bottom of the circle. All stats for goalies should be taken with a grain of salt when no one is watching the games. People here dont watch the Walleye but are gonna freak out about 3 goals and 23 shots against? That could easily be two 3 on 1s and a 5 on 3 goal but no one is watching they just want to freak out about his stat line.
