To be clear, you are FOR unvaccinated visitors from other countries being able to enter Canada this summer?
Im fine with that. Why would we want unvaccinated visitors at this time, when travel has brought in our first three waves? Rather do without a 4th.

if you're vaccinated, why do you care about others?

if you're unvaccinated, you know the risk of getting the virus and are willing to manage that risk...don't wanna get Covid? get vaccinated or stay away from people

I'm all for businesses making people be vaccinated, but a government is a different story IMO

Would love to be fully vaccinated right now, but not my turn yet for my second dose. Only around 10% of Canadians are fully vaccinated. The vaccines against the Delta variant apparently provide only about 33% protection after one dose. We’ve gone thru 18 months of hell here, and most of us are sick of it and want our businesses reopened and our lives back. So yeah, I’m tired of playing the nice Canadian card and just allowing anyone into the country right now. And are you seriously asking why I would care about other people?

Because herd immunity can protect the significant numbers of minors and immunocompromised individuals who would like to resume their lives without worry of infection from (selfish) visitors, who refuse to get vaccinated and practice proper hygiene protocols (quarantine, masks, social distancing).

Exactly, as you said, "stay away from people," and follow the current procedure of a mandatory 14-day quarantine, which will remain an option for unvaccinated visitors to Canada.

Once again, we are talking about requirement for visitors to Canada during an active pandemic. Nobody is forcing these people to visit Canada, and, if they want to do so without vaccination, they can quarantine as specified under the current policies.

other unvaccinated people, yes

I'm vaccinated....I don't give a crap if there's dummies out there who refuse the vaccine cause I know I'm protected...if that's selfish than there's needs to be more "selfish" people out there concerned about protecting themselves against others

as for the Delta variant, 175 cases compared to 44,056 of the UK variant...fraction of a percent and not growing
if it becomes a concern, the most vulnerable will already be protected in a month's time

I’m not as concerned for the people who choose not to be vaccinated, as I am for family, friends, and anyone who has been patiently waiting for surgery, but unable to get it done due to lack of capacity at hospitals due to Covid. Every single less person in hospital for Covid frees up a bed for someone else to use. So I don’t want to invite people into our country at this tine who can potentially and unnecessarily further reduce our hospital resources.

Pandemics | C-SPAN.org

In 2016, C-SPAN hosted a forum which focused on "emerging infectious diseases and the next pandemic." The panel included several experts, including Peter Daszak -- president of the EcoHealth Alliance.

When asked how his organization sequences deadly viruses, Daszak (beginning at approximately 1:17:00), he said:

Then when you get a sequence of a virus, and it looks like a relative of a known nasty pathogen, just like we did with SARS. We found other coronaviruses in bats, a whole host of them, some of them looked very similar to SARS. So we sequenced the spike protein: the protein that attaches to cells. Then we… Well I didn’t do this work, but my colleagues in China did the work. You create pseudo particles, you insert the spike proteins from those viruses, see if they bind to human cells. At each step of this you move closer and closer to this virus could really become pathogenic in people.

I remain skeptical for the motive to grant FOIA requests re: Fauci emails, but there are some interesting details within.

Personally speaking, I am waiting for Dodge to offer free trucks for receiving the vaccine. My selfishness and lack of intelligence is waiting for that payday.

Weed, booze and donuts are not great incentives.
Not sure where you live, but if it's Alberta, no free trucks coming, so I guess you'll be left with the selfishness and lack of intelligence at the end of the day.;)

Fiancée just got her second dose of Pfizer yesterday morning. First go around all she got was a sore arm but this time she’s been laid up in the hotel room for two days now feeling like garbage. Hopefully it turns around for her cause we’re going to the Vegas/Colorado game Thursday.

I hope the vaccine hesitancy doesn't delay my summer hockey

We might not make 70% at the rate we are going. ;) I figured that once the govt announced that Stage 3 was pretty much a given that some people would lose the incentive to get vaccinated.

lol those jerks. What day do you think we hit 70/20? My guess is June 21.

That's a pretty good guess. I'm more confident in the 20% than the 70% by that date. Last couple of days has just been a trickle of first doses, around 10K per day. Time to shift focus to those who want the second dose, been more than enough time for others to get their first dose.
