Never heard of the term "lizard people" before today, before this thread, and I don't know why I would have. Theres some stuff on google but nothing clear in terms of how people would even heard of this crap? I guess I'm kind of curious where people hear of this. meme, show, whatever source.

I guess more the question is how anybody knows about mindless garbage like this enough to for some reason cite the garbage in an issue based discussion. I mean what does it have to do with anything?

Nope. Carry-on then.

Could just be me but comments on whether people should be safely cooking their own food, vs getting take out is VERY relevant to a thread on Coronavirus, and on how to avoid getting it. That was the discussion we had yesterday.

If you could inform me how the f*** space lizards, tin, or G5 or flat earth is relevant, in the slightest, let me know.

Carry on then..

Just as relevant as 3 posts of a pancake, flat tire, and flat road.

Which was just humorous exchange with one other poster yesterday evening. They were not multiple examples of discrediting anybody elses view which is what I see being done with a lot of the stupid strawman bs

maybe you can distinguish between them, I guess not.

Mentioning the lizard people wasn't a humorous exchange? Now it's a strawman attack?

I'll leave for awhile and let you get back to moderating the thread.

In these threads theres been hundreds of examples of such strawman attacks. Usually with Flat Earth believer , 5G, now lizard people, climate change denier etc attached. You've engaged in the G5 comments yourself.

Strawman arguments should be unwelcome in topical discussion. I take it you disagree. Noted.

Western Canada Select Crude Oil opened today at $2.76... that's less for a barrel of oil than a bottle of pop at a gas station.

Is Oil even a viable industry going forward in Alberta?

I know that's a rhetorical question as no one knows the future and prices will not remain that low... but it's likely going to take quite a large rebound in oil prices to make the industry (and Alberta by extension)... economically viable again.

Can someone explain to me the rationale behind the Gov of California’s statement about not opening up until a vaccine is created and widely available (18 months away) or until we have herd immunity?

California has 40 million people and has barely 25,000 cases. When in hell does herd immunity be achieved when only .00063291 % of the people have it? In 1,000 years?

This herd immunity bs seems to me is being parroted by western politicians all over the place because they don’t have the stones to put tracking and immediate contact tracing in place because “freedom”.

So basically the only alternative we will have in the west is that we are going to be f***ing locked down for 18 months with no large gatherings till a vaccine is available?

Or am I missing something on herd immunity?

People are going to start rebelling if our “so called” leaders are not following the protocols they expect us to.

My understanding (and I'm no expert... but even the experts likely have no firm idea what the actual rate of infection in the population will be to achieve herd immunity for covid-19)... is that it will take somewhere between 29%-74% infected to achieve herd immunity.

Coronavirus, herd immunity and the eugenics of the market

Herd immunity - Wikipedia

So basically many multiples of what any population has currently... even hard hit areas in Italy, France, Germany etc are likely not much more than 20% infected currently...

Preliminary German Study Shows a COVID-19 Infection Fatality Rate of About 0.4 Percent

The above is from a hard hit region in Germany where ~15% were infected... still not enough to achieve herd immunity.

California has always seemed like its own country. A country run by crazies that have no outside perspective other than their California bubble. Its an odd place and they really are out of touch with reality or how to properly run a state. I never realized the scenario for Mad Max would actually start in a place like California. Oh well at least they can cosplay in their cool post apocalyptic costumes and be content sitting on the beaches and drinking wine made from the buttocks of their low wage servants who sit on the grapes instead of stepping on them because they heard that enhances the flavor.

I don’t disagree and I am really pissed those 2 assholes told us we can’t visit immediate family over Easter and then they break the rules themselves. I don’t mind sacrificing for the greater good but if they want to break the rules they set then f*** them.

If California seems like its own country, that may be because the strength of its economy puts it 5th in the world, just behind Germany but ahead of UK (and well ahead of Canada). They're doing one thing right, anyways.

And that goes to my point. Why say we need herd immunity when realistically we are light years away from ever achieving that? I guess it’s politicians being the shitbags they are and not thinking we can deal with bad news.

If we are supposed to live an altered life till a vaccine is available then they best be coming up with a feasible plan to get people out and the economy going again in a few weeks and there is no need to reinvent the wheel here.

Stop feeding us the herd immunity pablum. Do what South Korea has done. Test. Track. Trace. Everyone. Until a vaccine is available and distributed.

Using your own brain doesn't make you a sheep or a pawn of the government.

In fact those that purposely display behaviors just for the sake of being contrary to "rules" are just as sheep-like if not more so as that behavior is myopic in their appraisal of the situation as well.
