Wow... can't like this post enough.

I can't dislike it enough. It's a shame that people can't be friends and disagree politically. I like Trump - I dislike some things he's done here. I also have a few close friends who were on the Bernie bandwagon. We love talking sports, TV, and a host of other things. Disagreeing on politics dramatically can be frustrating at times but losing friends is small minded. We can still have a blast at family events and grabbing beer/wings for a game. I couldn't stand Obama, but I never thought about blowing off a close buddy because they voted for him.

I feel like theres too large a gap of knowledge of politics and law between the two of you for him to give an actual answer and for you to be satisfied with said answer. Unless the whole point was to show case that, then touché.

No need to guess. I’ve been dinged for politics while the warning is at the top of every thread. Not doing it again

Find us a high school student to show us the plan.
There doesn't need to be some elaborate "plan."

We're talking about basics. Workforce reduction, travel restrictions, requiring masks in stores, enforcing on non-essential activities.

We're doing NOTHING nationally. Every other country is.

How big part of the population in NYC will be immune in 2 weeks?

6,200 reported deaths. The real numbers are probably a lot higher, a big lag on these things and as we can see all over deaths are rising a lot more than corona deaths, indicating that far from all get logged correctly.

Anyway, let’s say it’s 6,200 and the mortality rate is 0.5% (probably lower, 50% is symptom free in Nagy recent studies, but let’s calculate on that).

The process of Covid-19 is generally very stable according to reports. You are sick, not horribly bad, but then comes a crisis after about 3 weeks. 6,200 deaths in other words reflects the people who got infected late March or before that.

6,200 / 0,005 = 1,200,000 infected in NYC. An immunity rate of 15% is fairly high. This will go on for a couple of weeks at least. A rough calculation gives you that 15,000 deaths means that about 3 million will be immune. 40%.

Of the 60% who haven’t had the virus, many will not have had it for a reason. Either they are not very receptive to this particular virus, or they aren’t moving around etc.

Doesn’t seem unlikely that NYC could open up fairly fast.

Which is exactly what we are doing.

Workforce reductions - unemployment is at an all-time high along with the virtual office

Travel restrictions - traveling between multiple states is banned and with unemployment at all-time high the sales of gas have plummeted

Masks in stores - min allowed in many grocery stores nationwide while most every other non-essential store is closed

non-essential activities - all non essential surgeries and work has been canceled.

So i’d say you’re wrong. Please send the high school student for his take

Every single thing you just listed has been done a state level.

There are no federal restrictions. None.

There is no federal moratorium on anything. Zilch.

Not one stitch of equipment has been produced under the Defense Production Act as of today.

New York State has received more ventilators from other countries than from the United States.

You've convinced yourself that people are looking for a "master plan" or some kind of skeleton key. Nobody is asking for that. People are asking for Trump to do anything.

i’m convinced we have some people who complain regardless. Unemployment is at an all-time high and you literally want the federal government to implement workforce reductions. Hello?

Because individual states have reduced the workforce. States that aren't following strict regulations will extend the life of the virus.

Do you not understand the difference between state and federal government?

… and whose enforcing this...? Are we mobilizing the entire military...? Because they are now all at risk as well...

The police are busy herding everyone to the hospital or trying not to get sick to enforce serious crimes (i.e... beat the balls off of his wife/robbery/burglary)

In most areas outside of major cities you have a single cop covering many square miles.

Let me guess, you're against the militarization of the Police... yet now want them going door to door and chasing you down while you go for a jog...

Your umpteenth blanket statement/unrealistic idea.

Tell us again how teachers are front line responders and are suffering heavier than the police. I type this... as I just left a home where someone died of CoVid and hoping my mask worked.

Nobody is going after you for jogging. That's a ridiculous strawman.

Serious crime has plummeted amidst this crisis, so that's another useless deflection.

Yes, the military should be mobilized in a national defense crisis. That's their literal f***ing job description.

Every other country has national guidelines. This is not a crazy, unattainable idea.

We get it. You hate the Potus. We get it. Reduce the workforce, etc, etc and everything on your list has already happened.

All those Countries you praised earlier are getting spikes. Science? The virus won’t die out b/c it doesn’t spread. It’s part of nature now.

Gee whiz, it sure seems like a lot of people fail to grasp the difference between criticizing someone for the bad job they've done and hating that person

No, clearly this was unavoidable. Nobody has a "master plan."

i won’t be rehashing the posts regarding stats either as this isn’t halftime of the Super Bowl whereas those quoting stats a mere week ago were doing nothing more than reporting the current score as if the game went Final. They still apparently do.

yes, you have pointed out how you feel things were handled improperly and stated your way of how they should have been handled. Well, those ideas didn’t work so now you’re in the wait and see mode which is a far cry from your take a few hundred thousands deaths ago.

Welcome aboard as every expert has been wrong so all we can do is wait and see as we still don’t have a vaccine, are still experimenting with drugs although hydroxychloroquine is being used in hospitals across the globe due to it’s promising mechanism of action. People are exercising better social distancing while millions still go about their business as if they weren’t warned since birth to cover your mouth when they cough or to leave a room somebody is sneezing.

Good news, MIT identified septic in ppm and it appears over 500% of people in the BSX area have Corona yet likely have no symptoms. Tough to make people aware when we’re still in the discovery phase. Who do we blame for that? Did the ouija board test positive for corona and out of commission?

Hoping for a vaccine from the experts or lucky rather than the media swaying this delusion of blame and passing it off as credible journalism.

I really have no idea what you are talking about anymore. I questioned you on the idea that it would have been laughable that implementing social distancing earlier would have been a good thing. What single argument are you bringing up that makes the idea of that laughable?

You jump from bringing up Singapore for seemingly no good reason, talk about discussing things like they are final even though I have said my criticism solely applies to the handling of getting prepared for the first wave and that there is still another bigger test to come of successfully re-opening, and then talk about how my ideas didn't work. What ideas are you even talking about?

Literally for questioning you saying its a laughable idea for social distancing starting earlier being a good idea. I mean, really?

Do you realize that every other country isn't divided into 50 different states that have their own state governments?

Again, i am not rehashing posts. I know your position. We all do

“Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion,” President Trump said last month. He has repeatedly said that no one could have seen the effects of the coronavirus coming.

WASHINGTON — “Any way you cut it, this is going to be bad,” a senior medical adviser at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Carter Mecher, wrote on the night of Jan. 28, in an email to a group of public health experts scattered around the government and universities. “The projected size of the outbreak already seems hard to believe.”

A week after the first coronavirus case had been identified in the United States, and six long weeks before President Trump finally took aggressive action to confront the danger the nation was facing — a pandemic that is now forecast to take tens of thousands of American lives — Dr. Mecher was urging the upper ranks of the nation’s public health bureaucracy to wake up and prepare for the possibility of far more drastic action.
...
The National Security Council office responsible for tracking pandemics received intelligence reports in early January predicting the spread of the virus to the United States, and within weeks was raising options like keeping Americans home from work and shutting down cities the size of Chicago. Mr. Trump would avoid such steps until March.

Despite Mr. Trump’s denial weeks later, he was told at the time about a Jan. 29 memo produced by his trade adviser, Peter Navarro, laying out in striking detail the potential risks of a coronavirus pandemic: as many as half a million deaths and trillions of dollars in economic losses.

The health and human services secretary, Alex M. Azar II, directly warned Mr. Trump of the possibility of a pandemic during a call on Jan. 30, the second warning he delivered to the president about the virus in two weeks. The president, who was on Air Force One while traveling for appearances in the Midwest, responded that Mr. Azar was being alarmist.

He Could Have Seen What Was Coming: Behind Trump’s Failure on the Virus

But yes, please tell us more about the phenomenal job the federal government has done with this. Explain it to those of us who don't see it, please, I beg you. Or maybe just whine more about "fake news", and "biased reporting" and the like

THe VirUS WON't dIe OUT bEcaUSe IT DoeSn'T spREad

What the f*** do you think vaccines do, galaxy brain?

It’s called an immune response. Newsflash, the Measles virus is present in nature. Our vaccine didn’t kill the virus lol. Our vaccine made people immune.

Love the theories though.

I really don't know why you are choosing to engage in discussions if every time someone calls you out on inconsistencies you decide you no longer want to have that discussion or play the "I don't want to discuss" politics card.
