Who would have been influential enough to persuade Trump to do anything sooner? He ignored experts in the medical field for months, I doubt he was going to listen to Dems telling him what to do.

Like the expert Dr. Fauci who said in January that America has nothing to worry about:

Or similarly end of February:

Maybe he wasn’t advising to mitigate in February because after all he pretty much said so:

Or the other expert Dr. Birx who said that their complete understanding of the virus was impacted by lack of information from China?

Coronavirus -- Dr. Deborah Birx Claims U.S. Slow to Respond Because China Withheld Data | National Review

Maybe he was listening to his experts after all

we should be less concern with what was or wasn't done in jan/feb and more concerned with what will be done in april & may. people dying shouldn't be a political issue and pointing fingers doesn't help anything.

It's completely viable, you just need a finger prick like everyone who checks their insulin daily

COVID-19 Coronavirus Rapid Test Cassette | SureScreen Diagnostics

Making these accessible to the public (ex. you can buy them on Amazon, in CVS, etc) is key so hopefully they can get these mass produced. I think the number of people that have or had it and haven't been tested is huge. The only thing I wonder about is in this "new normal", it might be key for others to know that you were tested for the antibodies and have them. How do we translate these positive antibody results into something identifiable for you? Do we make identification cards or a bracelet or something along those lines that indicate you have the antibodies? Because something like that might be key to getting fans back into arenas or stadiums and any other larger public gatherings.

Bravo and thanks for posting. Apparently the fickle media missed this and failed to inform those who get all their perceived knowledge from the unqualified fickle media.

IMO, it’s ok to be misinformed yet a when the media continues to make the same mistakes time and time again with no accountability the source is nothing more than a hypocrite.

This virus is the enemy of all and we as a world should stand together. Those with another agenda should really look in the mirror and knock it off imo.

Seems like things are going fine right now. Curve is flatting in hot spots, less new cases in those areas, plenty of ventilators and beds.

There was not much that could have been done in advance to prevent the virus from spreading here. Should they have been more proactive procuring medical equipment and designing tests to prepare just in case? Sure, maybe. But if they tried to institute social distancing and shut down business before there was an issue in America most likely the people would neither tolerate it nor take it seriously. So either way it was always going to make it here and start spreading before any policies to try and stop it could realistically be put in place.

No one has said it wasn't going to hit here if things were done perfectly. It is a strawman argument. Everyone is aware that the US, and particularly cities like NYC, had no chance of completely stopping this.

The argument is instead of the currently predicted 60k deaths here, could it have been 30-40k instead? As I have said before, we are going to end up as one of the 10 worst countries in terms of deaths per population and we had more warning than a lot of other hard hit countries. Obviously, SOMETHING wasn't handled too great over here. And that doesn't just mean the president and his administration, but to dismiss his role in this would be absurd.

The narrative of the past is the past and we should just move on is hilarious to me since we are on a board that brings up Hugh Jessiman every time someone wants to fire Gordie Clark.

And to add to that, though this isn't directed to your comment specifically, the people that still think its important to discuss where things went wrong are absolutely hoping and cheering that the president and every one else works to get America back up and running as quickly, efficiently, and with minimum casualties as possible. We still all are on the same team. To make another Ranger analogy, plenty of people want Staal gone and think he has no business on the team anymore, but I bet everyone would be tickled pink if he were to score a game winning goal in the playoffs for us.

Cuomo clarifying to all the pretend experts out there who comically call out certain individuals as “wrong”.

“If one says the CDC, White House, Columbia, Cornell, McKinsey, and Gates-Funded IHME all underestimated government effectiveness?” It’s too soon to tell Monday Morning quarterbacks . “This isn’t the 6th inning of a baseball game . . . halftime at the Super Bowl”, etc, etc. “This is no time for politics despite a hyper partisan time. Save the political conspiracies. “the CDC projected on March 13 2.4-21 million would be hospitalized, etc, etc, etc.

Such a breath of fresh air when it’s not the fickle media botching up messaging to share with an audience bent on supporting their partisan narrative while the scary Virus doesn’t give a hoot.

Has the media been part of the problem? Of course.

Does that explain the long list of quotes directly from the president or the tons of misinformation in his press conferences? And, again, yes this critique applies to people like De Blasio as well. It isn't some political hit job to call out the people who have been misleading their constituents.

Those omnipotent ones shouting foul from their couches were doing so before any of these quotes.

Such a weird stance to take on a message board. Might as well close the site down since people aren't allowed to have opinions or discuss things. Jeff Gorton knows all, and there can be no questioning him from our couches.

Like people were supposed to magically know what was going on before the people who got specific intelligence briefings did.

So you must be against Cuomo speaking the truth too huh? What an weird stance to take in front of the media and couch potatoes. How about stop candy coating the obvious narrative? It’s reeks of left vs right and if one side feels slighted for not being alerted how to wash their hands correctly the other side blames them for not reminding them to use soap. Regardless of that worthless inch people fight over to feel better about themselves the virus doesn’t care.

I've literally never criticized anyone for speaking the truth. Never have, never will. And I have agreed in criticism against people not telling the truth or doing a poor job of leadership on both sides.

Point me to any instance where I haven't been consistent on that. Otherwise, you are getting obviously defensive and your own biases are showing.

Appears multiple cities including Boston and Miami have tested sewage for traces of the virus. Gross details from MIT indicated stats of infected people was 500% higher than those diagnosed. Leads them to believe many have this virus yet are symptom free. I think we can all think of an ache, etc which made us think maybe we have it. Never know.
