Less apocalyptic, less inept, less stupid, and just totally more on top of this.

I don't know about the rest of the US, but New York is gonna kick this thing's ass. Only 24 new cases in Westchester today and that's where it started.
I don't think that's accurate. Here's what was released at his press conference today:

I still dont quite understand how we are the only state really on top of the testing. The Governor has probably handled this better any other in the country. This huge spike in testing and positive testing is telling for whats likely around the rest of the US.

Just got laid off lmfao

Starting this new job juuuuust before a world ending pandemic hit was pretty good timing lol. I had a feeling it was coming and forecasted it soon enough. Everyone is between a rock and hard place.

Sorry to hear that man. If this lasts much longer I think I may be in the same position as you.

There's a thread for positivity in the general board, it would be a service to us all if you post things there. Because I literally have been using it exclusively and not coming in here to keep my sanity. The same goes for anyone with good news.

How long of a period are those new cases over? I'm assuming not a day, right?
It might be? They got very aggressive with testing very recently. They're probably not truly"new" in that someone just got them, just new in that theyre confirmed. The governor said something about like 10k tests either yesterday or the day before.

It looks consistent with the new cases from the day before data here

I've said this before but I think there is the real chance that De Blasio will needlessly bankrupt the city by making extremely poor management decisions and ill advised handouts. When this is done we will be in a real bad spot that didn't have to be in with competent management

Question regarding testing. I haven't tested even though once in a while I felt a little under the weather (pretty sure it was nothing). I never got tested because a) I didn't want to ACTUALLY get sick and b) I didn't want to take a test from someone with severe symptoms who is at risk.

But now that there are more should my family and I get tested and if so how to do it safely to not get exposed to it if we don't have it?

At the moment, I believe you still need a doctor's order to get tested. If you feel sick enough to consult a doctor about symptoms, you should. Just keep in mind they aren't handing out tests to whoever wants them, its still regulated

The testing has expanded but they are still limited and they are only ordering testing for obviously symptomatic people. I.e., chronic cough, fever, shortness of breath. Must call doctor or ER to explain your symptoms and give heads up that you're coming in.

Some people are just miserable and like making other people miserable.

Look, this definitely sucks. Of course it does.

But for f***s sake, we CAN beat this. We just need to make some adjustments and stick with them for awhile. Staying positive and busy is the best thing for your mental health, your immune system, and the economic implications of this crisis.

I think this is fine tbh. Until we have tests for everyone, we don't need healthy people panic-testing because they sneezed. Look what they're doing with toilet paper.

You won't know you're sick until you have symptoms and there's a period where you'll be asymptomatic and spreading. That's just the reality of viral infection. That's how they stay "alive." The only way to stop that is 353 million tests and that's not happening.

That's why we need to be smart and stay out of groups.

Congrats - Humans have cleaned the world and perhaps reversed Global Warming all within 90 days

Now we just have to figure out this virus

This is going to prove that we can do a lot of things we're told are not possible.

I hope we take that lesson to heart.
