All building staff at my midtown office building are still being considered "essential employees" so the building will remain open 24/7. Tenants are working from home, but the building remains open in case we need to go in for paperwork, etc.

The moves had nothing to do with anything that any Senator was or was not doing. And again, the belief that a large swath of senators engaged in acting on non-material public information is a conspiracy theory that frankly exists nowhere else besides this board. Now, on top of this virus that we are all dealing with, we have governmental conspiracies at the same time?

I was responding to the last part of his post. It would be interesting to see how certain portfolios coordinated with the moves the Fed made, and that of the Working Group on Financial Markets (aka the plunge protection team)

How the portfolios of the sold stocks reacted differently to the moves the Fed made and the moves that were recommended to the President? Isn't the Chairman of the Fed on the team?

My office building is always open in general. I believe that all such buildings are always open.

One of these days, you need to tell me where you are and we can meet for a non-social distancing drink.

From what I read, it is 4 Senators. All of whom have asked the Ethics committee to look at the sales. That does not sound like someone who is guilty of the accusation, but as you said, we will find out. If guilty, then yeah, an orange jumper it is. As a public figure, if he filed the proper disclosure forms for personal transactions, it would be easy to see.

There are also things that are done by a third party financial adviser as they see fit if they were given proper authorization.

I dont think you are processing information too well these days, so let me help:

1. The dumping of stocks is ominously timed. We'll see what happens, but I, not anybody else are pushing any conspiracy theories about acting inside information, though they very well might have. The fact you think this will be adequately investigated is laughable considering the current leadership of the country. It'll be forgotten about in 48 hours.

2. The most unethical and despicable nature of what went on is that the upper-echelons of our government were warned that this would be a paralyzing outbreak that could potentially decimate the economy and society as we know it. And, instead of acting, they went the polar opposite way and downplayed the threat for weeks and weeks and weeks -- losing valuable time to combat the crisis in the process. I could show you reels and reels of footage coming from senators, the President, and Fox news calling this nothing over a very crucial time period, but you've got your head so far up your ass, Im afraid you wouldn't be able to see it.

Found this in one of my uncles storage boxes, thought I'd share cause it's so boring lately. This is from 1998 I think, so a little before when i started watching. I know the obvious big names but theres some I dont recognize.

Very cool pic. I can't figure out who the two guys are above Deb Kaufman, left of Jim Kaat. Plus I don't remember the name of the guy on the bottom right who used to cover High School sports.

I would find it highly unlikely that portions of the government engaged in acting on non-material public information.

Until I see any credible sources for this, and right now there are none, this is literally the definition of fake news and people howling about it are basically feeding into the hysteria.
So wait, are you denying that several senators dumped stock shortly after receiving an intelligence briefing that indicated the global situation was going to get bad? Or are you saying that you have no issue with them having dumped the stock because they probably did so without receiving any close hold information in said meetings that would incentivize them to do so?

I mean, you think it’s more likely that this is a coincidence or just that these people were smarter in reacting to publicly available information than everyone else?

I’m genuinely interested because you’re the first person I’ve encountered who isn’t outraged by this. And I’m not in a liberal bubble, I assure you.

I just would like to be privy to the information provided within those "Working Group on Financial Markets" meetings. The unscheduled one they held on March 10th I think I would have found particularly interesting.

Umm....conspiracy theory, hello there. Do you have the information to ascertain whether or not as public people they made the necessary disclosures about selling stock? Do you have the necessary information to be able to ascertain whether or not these people themselves sold it or if their transactions were handled by third party advisers?

As for the government, one of these senators was Dianne Fienstein. Do you believe that Trump has any love for her?

Are you speaking from knowledge about who said what and when? And agian, on Jan 20, the World Health Organization pronounced that this virus cannot be spread by human contact. Is this the warning you are referring to?

That is not what I am saying. First of all, I would caution to make any judgments until all facts are known and not based on your (not you specifically) hatred of the current president.

I am careful in saying what I do and do not find outrageous. As there are sometimes differentials in what is and what is not illegal. And illegal and unethical. If they did not receive information that caused them to dump stock, there is nothing really to see here. If they acted on non-public information, of course they should be held accountable. And it also needs to be know if they acted directly or via a third party manager who made the moves.

Do I think it is fishy? Yeah, something does not feel right. But as we have all seen, sometimes it is best to let all facts come out before making decisions.

By 12:30 today I was completely caught up on billing and left. 8.25 hours total over two days. That was after being out for a full week. Amazing how much of my time is wasted having to deal with the public or incompetent coworkers

Went a little crazy on my way home, officially prepared for when Homeland Security orders a nationwide lockdown.

I did get an extra propane tank and ~$100 in food, too. Chase came in clutch raising my credit limit yesterday

I just want to go on record saying that I am all for obtaining facts and minimizing outrage. That said, I also want these people prosecuted to the fullest extent if the facts lead where they seem to lead, and I also don’t want the investigation to be conducted by a partisan group that doesn’t have the best interest of the public at the top of their agenda.

All of that said, I am sure this shit happens all the time, but people are normally too busy to notice or the magnitude of the transgressions is not large enough for them to be aware or care.

I work in a grocery store, so unless the owner or government says so, we stay open

That sucks man, can't you just stay home? You were the one that had asthma and were young? You can always find a job later if he doesn't let you stay home, may even be able to sue. If you didn't have asthma I wouldn't tell you that, but you have to take care of yourself.
