I do think we haven't bottomed out yet.
I also think that depending on how the administration placates the masses, supports businesses, and offers bridges, we can slog through the next few months.
At some point, there likely will be additional economic stimulus packages following the more immediate measures.
See, I'm already doing this stuff without the Shelter in Place order. And I believe the people still ignoring the rules will continue to do so, but having less places for them to meet up as well as enforcement of the 6 foot rule for non-family members certainly helps.Living near SF, it's not as busy as it normally is but this morning there were still a lot of cars driving around with people going to work etc. Going outdoors for exercise is allowed so I was out riding my bike and hitting up the trails and there were maybe a few less people but still within the "normal" range out there. Saw what looked like a few people meeting for trail runs...can't really tell if they're adhering to the 6 foot policy but seems like a bad idea.
Basically...still a lot of people doing stuff even with a shelter in place order because there's enough leeway in it to allow such. It's hard to tell how much is people being careful and how much is people carrying on as usual.
Like I said I'll go out for exercise but solo or with my family, avoid people outside, and not go out for other reasons unless required. We took our kid out of daycare and basically have committed to having him home for the next 3 weeks which is going to be rough with two people who usually work full time but we'll make it work
I find it hard to believe this is the player proposed schedule. That's a lot of hockey in a short amount of time
Those models are close to worst case scenarios. Actual real data out of China where they are on the downslope of infection have 3200 dead, so figure they will top off at like 5000-6000 and that is in a country with 3 times the US populationI'm the the San Francisco Bay Area. We're in complete shelter-in-place lockdown. No one that I am connected with in this area is questioning how serious this is. I read debates on this message board about how the media is exaggerating things and I really can't understand that. Is this a political argument? Because the outlook is pretty dire and out here we all recognize this and are attempting to do our part. Posting a few links here (sorry, not in the mood to figure out formatting).
Medium-case scenario modeling has the US suffering over 1,000,000 deaths, and hospitals completely overloaded.
The White House was treating this like a PR problem, not a health crisis.
Government-provided testing data, and it doesn't look good for the US.
Staying home and staying isolated can literally save lives. This isn't a joke or hyperbole. I would like to try to understand someone's point of view who thinks it's not serious enough to call for shelter-in-place though.

Missing spring is going to suck.
I'm extremely concerned for my parents, mostly my dad. He works in a high volume income tax office all day, every day. He's a smoker. He won't stay home because he's convinced he'll get fired if he does. I don't want to worry him. I'm f***ing going nuts right now. How do these criminals not postpone the f***ing tax deadline?
April 15 ax return filing will be postponed. You can bet on it. For how long - that's another question. My guess would be at least until June 15.
They didn't postpone the business deadline which is March 15 (the 16th on this year). Everyone had to file their 1065 or request an extensionApril 15 ax return filing will be postponed. You can bet on it. For how long - that's another question. My guess would be at least until June 15.

Exactly. You can rest assured that the intelligence agencies have a decent idea about what’s really happening there though. If this shit was as under control as the public facing Chinese story is saying it is, the entire country would not be locked down."Real data out of China"
Lol
Wife is cutting her business trip a month short and flying home Thursday. Happy to have her back. I should wash the sweatpants I've been wearing since last week.
Why haven't they postponed yet? It's crazy.
I could swear I saw earlier today they are allowing a 90 day extension with no penalty.
Do you truly believe that we're getting "actual real data out of China?"Those models are close to worst case scenarios. Expect the same for 1040, they are not postponing April 15.
At best they will auto-submit the extension for you but you will still owe the full amount on time or face interest and penalties

well pick your country, even Italy is "only" 2500 deaths. We are not going near 100K deaths anywhere let alone 1M"Real data out of China"
