LOL...don't forget he is also putting up new signs at the border....Should just bite the bullet and close the border . Why wait until we are the next Italy ? Our local MP ...get this...announced yesterday via Facebook that his cell was broke and he wanted them to leave messages on his home ph . Can't make that stuff up....I suspect his cell ringing on account of the Canuck SnowBirds in Florida .

Families of 10 or more people in the same home are SOOL then?

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”
February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6: “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 8: “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
March 9: “This blindsided the world.”
March 13: "I take no responsibility."

Are these ACTUAL quotes!?

If so, the man is a caricature.

If not, lmao you nailed it.

Does anyone foresee the US closing its border to green card holders? My wife is in SEA for work and is planning on coming back next week. The Euro restrictions did not apply to green card holders so we're not concerned about her getting blocked out at this point.

If you are having some doubts it sounds like a perfect opportunity for you to get rid of your wife.

Those are real, man.

At the same, I'm not going to revel in this man's stark raving lunacy. I don't want this thing going longer than it needs to. Even more than my own 401k, my parents' retirement savings are being systematically wiped out. I have plenty of time for it to recover, but my parents don't.

I say this very dispassionately - Trump really blew this. He didn't get out in front of this early on and calm the nation. He doesn't have that trait in him....There was a chance to quickly corral all the experts and develop a sound plan. Now the nation is in full tilt freak out and he can't catch up.

And the O'Hare airport scene? Flabbergating to see.

Yup, Q1 should be positive but Q2 and Q3 will be disasters. I do hope that when we do officially enter into a recession that less people will lose their jobs than I think and it won't be prolonged.
If you wanted me to make a prediction now, it would be that yes, Q2 will probably be negataive. Q3 is still debatable.

The view is that the recession, if and when it happens, could be sharp but relatively short lived. Which I hope will lessen the job effects.

Idris Elba tested positive for COVID-19. Guess the apocalypse is back on...
It's cool, he'll be ok. I mean...

the market was ripe for a pull back but this is a full blown meltdown.

i expect this will slow the world economy enough to trigger a global recession. i believe the US recession will be both less drastic and shorter term.
Agreed with both of those. The meltdown that you are seeing could well be referred to in a few years as another Lehman Crisis. One that models try to replicate and we will again look at pre-crisis assets and post.

reason is if he closes it completely then the United States will retaliate with closed border to Canada and Canada gets screwed on all the trade that has to come through

There was zero excuse for this nation not to have the tests available and a plan for getting sick people tested. In a pandemic, data is the most important factor in getting ahead of the virus. We have next to no testing data to try and head this thing off.

I like u as a poster but this might be the dumbest thing I have ever read
I like you as a poster, but have to ask if you know what the definition of a recession is? It is two quarters of negative growth. Not slowed growth. Negative. Until you have that, you do not have a recession. What you are doing is creating your own definition of it based on your own views. And that is fine, but that does not make it correct.

Given the timings, one also needs to understand that a recession does not happen over night. The economic data was very strong. The country did not lurch into a recession in a matter of 10 days.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself if this virus stuff continues until July/August like Trump just said

Listen, before you even go to the tests we could have done the laser thermometer thing. In China there are workers at every single public place checking your temperature and if you have a fever you DON'T GET TO GO IN.

I have not seen a single thermometer checkpoint anywhere at anytime in all of the New York City / Westchester / NJ / CT metro region

Depends on if there's pockets and on what level.

If the panic dies down, and the incidents become few and further between, potentially with some advances in treatment, it will be something that lurks, but doesn't necessarily dominate day to day life.

But it's way too early to tell exactly what we're going to be looking at.

I did have to laugh about the idea of stopping people and checking them as they re-enter the country.

I have 4 friends who have flown back to the U.S. in the last 48 hours, and all of them walking right through the airport, got their bags and went back into society.

I'm on the sidelines like everyone else here, but my understanding is that the virus will most likely burn itself out long before July/August. I'm assuming that's just Trump talking out his ass and trying to lower expectations so far, that when this is over in 2 months, he gets to claim that his amazing leadership ended this thing early.

that is the hope because it happens with the regular flu but no one has any idea yet cause its a new virus...

kinda cherry picking IMO. He didn’t cause mass hysteria but rather downplayed the inevitable. We’ve never seen anything like this so it’s impossible to say he handled this poorly or if others could have handle it better. On the flip side, I do believe the fickle media could handle it better.

I think it’s pretty realistic to assume this doesn’t go away by July/August. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get back to your normal life before that.
Yeah we'll be taking precautions for awhile but I'm hoping to get off WHO stage 4 by or during the summer.

Fiance is an RN at a nursing facility in BK and they took her temperature before she was allowed in for the first time today.
