Are people over 70 disposable to you?

Maybe investing more money into protecting people over 70, and spending less on shutting down the economy for people 20-50 would have better results.

It's not always as dramatic as, if you disagree you want people to die. Vast majority of people I've seen who are critical of the lockdowns have been saying we should be spending more money on seniors and those who are immunocompromised. Not less. It's at least worth discussing.

My dad is in his early 70s, and even he says to me that it's sad that older people are going to unnecessarily die because of the virus, but they are older and it happens (no different than if they caught a flu, fell down or had a heart attack). He knows he is more vulnerable, but he also shakes his head that things are coming to a grinding halt.

Lockdown and stuff is useless, unless there is a better and more effective tracking system.
Everyone who gets off the plane from Intl flights, need to be in quarantine for 14 days despite test results. And they need to be inside a bubble like the NHL, asking people to self isolate and be honest is stupid

universal healthcare is useless, unless there is full tracking of every food, beverage and drug you consume ...

income tax is useless, unless there is full tracking of every monetary transaction made ...

patent laws are useless, unless there is tracking on every snippet of media you consume ...

hate speech laws are useless, unless we record everything everyone says, watches, listens to, reads in a book ...

At least those begging for the boot of the state will experience the long term consequences of it too.

Happy Festivus, please continue with the airing of grievances.
 Very fitting if only we had separate Covid threads broken into categories: restaurant/small business owners, the unemployed, conspiracy theories, taxes, anti-vax, etc...

My 73 father said the same thing.

LTC home with 145 COVID-19 resident cases puts out mayday call as it runs out of staff

10 months in, we still can’t protect those most at risk. Politicians have left LTC homes out to dry while lecturing everyone else that they need to do better. It’s a shame that they’ll never be held accountable. Instead, they’ll give each other awards for “heroic work”.

They have no problem telling a restaurant owner what they can and can’t do but long term care homes? Well... we can’t just step in and help. They’re privately owned... that’s up to them.

If these 145 residents tragically die, Doug Ford’s response will be to lock down more hair salons in Timmins. That’ll solve the problem. And John Tory will blame the families who went to the outdoor rink on Christmas.

He's a shoo-in for a Canadian Screen Actor award.

Hey man ... skating outdoors is dangerous and takes up a lot of resources. Might need to fly a helicopter out to make sure everything is OK.

Really though. Lockdowns are nonsense and Canadians need to start protesting. "We're all in this together" my ass ... Look at teh data .. read the data ... see the data .... and ignore the lockdowns

Wow that's a lot deaths, like 50 a day since March.

I mean we are all in this together but that also doesn’t mean the same blanket restrictions should apply to all

Outdoor skating is fine, its outdoor skiing that needed locking down.

Speaking of skating, it is strange that the mayor is practically pleading on a daily basis for people to stay indoors and socialize with your own household. Only go out for necessities. Never knew skating was a necessity.

Ottawa says outdoor rinks open during lockdown for skating only, leave sticks at home it says.

I wonder how many parents bought their children skis/snowboards for Christmas thinking it's the one activity that could get them out of the house while social distancing. Psych!

Ford must get off on this stuff.

Damn :( -- Tipping point in York Region from Global News ... we should all be so afraid.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Eo31e9UWEAEhTZ-?format=jpg&name=medium

Let's look into this tipping point further?

There are 1,335 hospital beds in York.

How many are occupied by patients hospitalized due to or just with covid-19? Drum roll, please... 66.

Yes, 66. Including 7 in ICU.

-- Stay home ya'll - this is outta control

Yes it does appear that appears to be the case if your source is credible, so thankful for those working with the sick, thanks for
sharing even though your being sarcastic.

Do you have a source for those numbers?

Source is from Public Health Ontario itself using the Ontario Covid 19 data tool. The point isn't to be "sarcastic' but to show how the media is only interested in fear and propaganda.

Now have an article like this multiple times a day and the average Canadian is scared shitless about Covid -- yet will not do research on their own .. just listen to the talking media heads.

If you want - dig into it even further:

The CEOs of Mackenzie Health, Markham Stouffville Hospital, and Southlake Regional Health Centre recently said they were at a tipping point. Well let's take a closer look into those hospitals:

Markham Souffville Hospital: 309 beds + $3,664,700 from province to add 15 hospital beds & 5 critical care beds = 329 beds. So what's the tipping point? Hospitalizations increasing right? OK ... 19 in hospital *with* covid (not necessarily because of covid).

Southlake Hospital: 500 beds. 13 in hospital *with* covid (not necessarily because of covid), including 5 in ICU.

But wait ... The Media and the CEO's of the Hospitals themselves said they were at a tipping point ....Is that why Southlake Hospital laid off almost 100 nurses and 176k of hours from RN direct patient care loss?

Here's a quote from the Ontario Nurses Association (ONA):

"I cannot fathom how Southlake Regional Health Centre CEO Arden Krystal can justify cutting front-line registered nurses during a global pandemic," notes ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN. "With the second wave of COVID-19 and the upcoming influenza season, which will put undue pressure on all hospitals, cutting registered nurses is completely irresponsible."

And it's not just Southlake cutting nurses during a "global pandemic". But lets go back to making more Tik Tok Dancing Nurse videos

I haven't been able to find this hospital data you're quoting at the Ontario Covid Data Tool site. Where are you getting these hospital numbers? Those numbers seem very low.

Nevermind: I went to the individual hospital sites. For example: COVID-19 Information - Southlake Regional Health Centre
