The Jets are depending on all-world goaltending to get a win, some things never change.
Good point. That’ll be a weird shift where we cheer for the Rangers tonight, then cheer against them next round. LOL! If NYR beat Carolina tonight, then lose to Tampa next round, and Edmonton beats Colorado… then Jets pick 29th. So we’ll be Edmonton and Tampa fans next round if NYR wins tonight.Carolina has won every game at home and lost every game on the road this playoffs, that trend can't continue forever. Hopefully the Rangers get it done and then lose in the next round.
I was wondering the same, where does it say he has to play a defined number of games? I was only able to find where it said he had to play in 50% of the games.Yes it would be guaranteed if NYR beats Car. Assuming Copp plays in game 7, he will have played 14 games. If he gets benched/injured after that game… won’t matter. He’d already play 14 games. Max is 28 in playoffs. 14/28 = at least 50% of playoff games.
Ehh, I hope the Rangers continue to do well if they advance. Wishing for the 29th pick versus the 32nd pick is whatever. I wouldn't mind seeing Copp & Trouba in the Stanley Cup (and hope they play against the Oilers).Good point. He has to play in 50% of the games and the Rangers have to make the third round. Tonight is his 14th game. If the Rangers win and both of their next series go seven games, than that’s 28 games total — meaning Copp will have fulfilled this requirement by playing in their first 14.I was wondering the same, where does it say he has to play a defined number of games? If he plays today then he will have played 14 games, the maximum that a team could play is 28 so he would have hit 50% at 14 even if the Rangers played the maximum games.I was wondering the same, where does it say he has to play a defined number of games? Dear Hockey Gods,
It has become clear to us that the Jets are deserving of some good fortune. As such, we wish to offer our first round pick to them. Of course, by rules of the NHL, we cannot just *give* them our first round pick. We will need a win tonight as compensation. Surely, this is a fair deal.
In Shesty we trust, Amen.
Thank-you for answering, but my confusion lies in the fact that people are assuming the 50% means total playoff games, doesn't it make more sense that if the Rangers make it to the third round he has to play 50% of the games the Rangers played in the playoffs? So tonight will be the 14th playoff game, assuming they win then Copp will have to have played in 7?He has to play in 50% of the games and the Rangers have to make the third round. Condition 1: NYR wins at least 2 playoff rounds. Condition 2: Copp needs to play in at least 50% of playoff games. This will be his 14th game tonight. Max a playoff team can play is 28. So as long as Copp is on game day lineup tonight, that will satisfy the condition of at least 50% of playoff games regardless of what happens to Copp or NYR in rounds 3-4.Thank-you for answering, but my confusion lies in the fact that people are assuming the 50% means total playoff games, doesn't it make more sense that if the Rangers make it to the third round he has to play 50% of the games the Rangers played in the playoffs? Where do you get the fact that playoff games means 28?, that makes no sense, if it's the 14th game tonight and condition one is met, then as long as he played 7 of the 14, then condition 2 is met.Condition 1: NYR wins at least 2 playoff rounds. Condition 2: Copp needs to play in at least 50% of playoff games. This will be his 14th game tonight. Max a playoff team can play is 28. 28 is just the maximum number of games they can play (if they win tonight, win next round in seven games and go to a Game 7 in the final). If Copp gets hurt tonight and misses the rest of the playoffs, he still would have played 14 games. So even if the next two series goes the distance (28 games in total) he still will have fulfilled the requirement of playing in at least half.Where do you get the fact that playoff games means 28?, that makes no sense, if it's the 14th game tonight and condition one is met, then as long as he played 7 of the 14, then condition 2 is met.
Igor picked up 2 assists last game, maybe he scores the winner tonight.Me too but the Canes have been flirting with danger leaning on the perfect winning streak at home. All good things eventually come to an end so maybe that happens tonight. I think its going to come down to Shesterkin and some luck.
Good point...now you have confused me!Where do you get the fact that playoff games means 28?, that makes no sense, if it's the 14th game tonight and condition one is met, then as long as he played 7 of the 14, then condition 2 is met.
I get the part about if he plays tonight, so if I understand what you are saying, if the Rangers had won the first two rounds in 8 games, and Copp played 100% of them, you are saying that condition 2 would not have been met?28 is just the maximum number of games they can play (if they win tonight, win next round in seven games and go to a Game 7 in the final). The easy way to look at it is to note that if Copp plays tonight and the Rangers win, we get their first pick no matter what.
It would not have been met if he got injured in the 8th game and missed the rest of the season while the Rangers played (hypothetically, for argument’s sake) two more seven game series (14 more games for a total of 22 in the playoffs).I get the part about if he plays tonight, so if I understand what you are saying, if the Rangers had won the first two rounds in 8 games, and Copp played 100% of them, you are saying that condition 2 would not have been met?

8/22 ≠ 50%
Hypothetically, Copp could suffer a season ending injury tonight after 14 games, and also hypothetically the Rangers could go on to play another 14 games after this — so 28 games total, with Copp playing in the first 14 (50%).
Exactly. But not if they went seven full games each.it would be met if he got injured in the 8th game and they lost the next 4.
8/12*100 = 66%
This is true and it hurts lolMost important game of the year for the Jets.
