I dislike Carolina anyway so it will be easy to root for the Rangers so we can get their 1st.
They are easy to hate with their frigging pee-wee shenanigans and choreographed bullshit after the games. I wonder if the players die a little bit inside every time they have to "perform" those. Can you imagine Bobby Clarke doing snow angels after a win?

I like their willingness to do anything to get their fans aboard. I’d be disappointed if they weren’t considering how little interest there was in the team. I’d think Bobby clarke is being a grump if he wasn‘t willing to do some of the fun things Carolina did to try and make themselves relevant. Fortunately for Bobby it was never asked as he only played in hockey mad markets.

Agreed, I find their theatrics cringe worthy. I would cheer for them over the Leafs and Vegas, but I really dislike that team.

5 goals 5 assist 10 points in 11 games. He has been better than expected. Most feel he will resign with the Rangers.

He's definitely having a career season. The real question is whether his level of play is sustainable over longer periods of time.

Personally, as time goes on, I think his level of play will be more in line with how he played here. I guess I'll see if Copp can prove me wrong.

He had a career season with the Jets last year too. I don't expect him to continue to be a ppg player, but he could sustain .75 ppg.

If he sticks on Panarin's line I could see him putting up ~a PPG for a season.

Well his level of play here when in a top 6 role was roughly a 50 pt pace. He's going to get signed as a ufa to likely play as a top 6er.
Piror to 2019-2020 he was with Lowry or centered Appleton and Lemieux. Not many players are going to be putting respectable top 6 offensive numbers with those cast of linemates.

If Barron can contribute offensively next season in a bottom 6 role, I think this trade should be considered a big win whether or not we get the NYR 1st. Bottom 6 scoring was definitely a big issue this year.

Any thoughts whether Jets will choose the 2022 or 2023 2nd round pick?
Tough call, could be a lot of steals in the 2nd due to many players missing a development year.

On the other hand, next year seems pretty deep and gives the Jets an extra trade chip that is easier liquidize when compared with a prospect.

Best case scenario though the Rangers win 2 more games and it's a late first

Trade the 2nd for help now. Jets are awful in the second round.

As everyone knows, the Rangers/ Carolina series is tied at 2 games each, and the games have been very competitive. I believe the Rangers dropped one in overtime in Carolina. If the Rangers win their next game in Carolina, there's a good chance they take that series, which means we'd get their # 1 pick, which is really big. I also think the NYR are a little underrated. Don't count them out.

It'd be nice but we did lose a middle-6 scorer in order to gain that bottom-6 scorer.

There is a joke somewhere in there about a 'Cop' becoming a star in NY where NYPD Blue took place and starred one of the biggest Copp detractors Andy @sipowicz .

I don't think Copp is what he is showing right now... that is probably some combination of Panarin, the adrenaline boost of a new team and the allure of the upcoming payday, but now it's pretty apparent that the Jets made the wrong choice between him and Lowry. In hindsight they should have given Copp Lowry's money but easy to say in hindsight, even Murat at that time wanted the Jets to sign Lowry over Copp if they had to choose.

Need Copp to play at least 14 games (he has played 11) and NYR to beat Car for the NYR pick to be 100% guaranteed. One of the conditions was Copp to play 50% of games. If Copp were to get injured in next 2 games and the Rangers play two more 7-game series… Jets wouldn’t get the 1st round pick. That scenario is incredibly unlikely… but just clarifying.

Honestly think the Rangers blew their best opportunity to win in Carolina and the Hurricanes know they got lucky. Brind’Amour won’t allow his players to lay a dud like that again on home ice. They’re unbeatable on home ice.

Hurricanes will win in 6. Not wanting a repeat of round one they’ll find a way to get it done in New York.
