Regional blackouts are not going away. They will still be around on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
"the agreement guarantees that there will be no further regionalization of games or local blackouts"

With former Bell and Rogers honchos running the CRTC?!?Great point.
Anyone in here with a legal background that can comment on the plausibility of Rogers being hit with an anti-trust lawsuit for this blatant monopolization?
With more national broadcasts - it means that GCL has less games to show though. The blackouts are due to nationally available games. Whether they change it to be intended for in-market viewers or not is a different story (and if you're an in-market viewer currently you aren't actually the intended audience for the product) - but for the out of market viewer, increased numbers of national games (or exclusivities) is bad because it creates more blackouts.
GCL shows all games. With no blackouts, you will be able to watch all games, 4 at a time, on GCL.

Since when? If the Oilers are being televised on Sportsnet West, a person with an Edmonton area IP address cannot access the game on GameCenter.
..no
I'm saying that when the new agreement kicks in next year and the blackouts going away games won't be blacked out on GCL any more.
If people who love the CBC and programs like Sazuki and little Mosque on prarie. Why dont they pay from their own pockets and set up their own Tv network that way people like me dont have to pay a cent of my money.HNIC could have easily survived in the private industy because its about ratings. The BBC check that out you know what I mean. There are criminal charges and lawsuits.
Like I said it look a lot like the last few years at the SRC. When you knew it was just a matter of time and that the Saturday game RDS let them show for a while would be going away soon.Hockey Night in Canada has survived without CBC paying a cent.
Gabriel Morency @sportsrage
for nba-ncaa fans in canada. this is GREAT news. TSN will now just run ESPN programming games all the time now.
OK, misunderstood.
But is this confirmed? I highly doubt there will no longer be blackouts, if there aren't everyone will just order GCL or CI and not even need cable at all. Rogers wants to force everyone to order up all of their different Sportsnet channels, there's no way they'd leave this massive loophole open.
A Sportsnet show almost made me puke. Some 'Tim and Sid' show with the one guy telling cable subscribers to 'shut up' if they are concerned about it being a monopoly and their bill possibly going up.
I think the inevitable effect to all this is an INCREASE in subscription fees. Whether it is cable bill increase (most likely) or pay-per-view hockey (possible).
Second, I suspect sportsnet/Rogers thinks that the CBC will not have their NHL deal for long. If the Cdn economy gets into enough trouble and the public investment has to be curtailed, HNIC may lose their coverage benefits. Whenever hockey on the CBC becomes reduced, Rogers is the sole benefactor. Rogers is a monopoly not just in this dept. but any future situation, they are the only winners.
Imho, the hockey fan loses, big time.

What are the chances of Quebec getting their team back with TVA involved?
A journalist was saying that the way that Rogers and Quebecor have conducted themselves quitely, they have become fast friends with Bettman and that it's proof that a NHL team in Quebec is almost a sure thing.
With HNIC staying for the time being, do you guys knows if Sportsnet are going to do a similar program on Sunday Nights like the press talked about last year?
