Vlasic didn't shut Crosby down, Jones did. If not for his goaltending that series is a 4 game sweep. The real Stanley Cup Finals happened in the 2nd round vs the Capitals.

First, it was that McDavid couldn't be shut down in the playoffs because it's the same as the regular season (lol). Now, it's the need to inflate Vlasic/Braun to the best in the world because they did exactly what many were telling Oil fans could happen.

I thought he was impressive in his first series given the massive spotlight on the kid and expectations. He kept the Sharks on their heels more often than not, drew all the attention to make life easier on his teammates, and wasn't a liability while doing so.

Looking forward to seeing McDavid's performance in Round 2 of his first playoff adventure and the ultimate comparisons to Crosby's performance. :sarcasm::D

What is scary is that edmonton did go throw the first round, and you still know there is more to get from McDavid. He has been good, but not as good as in the regular season. I would say Draisaitl is the one that has impressed me the most in the playoff for edmonton, fairly easily.

Here is my first quote in this thread and have not changed my opinion. Other than responding to posters who want to bring up Crosby or continue to claim McDavid is the best player in the world, how am I marginalizing McDavid?

Might be an idea to stop quoting the posters and bringing up Crosby stats from years past then. I see that you've referenced your first quote a couple of times here in this thread to various posters. It's also very safe to say (based on the small sample size of this thread :D), that you are #1 in regards to posters with the most posts at 32.

Nonetheless, although you haven't specifically "trivialized" McDavid, it certainly seems to be a small part of your agenda. I've noted your posts in other threads on the McDavid vs Crosby subject, and although I understand why you are doing it (because of the consistency of other posters doing the same thing in different markets), it doesn't bely the fact that your posting habits have fallen into the area of trivializing. You don't have to specifically say something about a certain player to make to trivialize. The constant comparison to Crosby's past does the same thing .

That's my opinion only, not other Oiler fans.

If I understand correctly, presenting any argument that does not support McDavid as the best player in the world is "trivializing" him?

Vlasic didn't shut Crosby down, Jones did. If not for his goaltending that series is a 4 game sweep. The real Stanley Cup Finals happened in the 2nd round vs the Capitals.

2015-16 playoffs:
Crosby vs Vlasic 5v5 (67 mins):
CF: 45% (58-70)
Fenwick: 43% (32-42)
High danger chances: 39% (7-11)

Crosby vs Braun 5v5 (63 mins):
CF: 44% (59-75)
Fenwick: 39% (31-49)
High danger chances: 27% (6-16)

2016-17 playoffs:
McDavid vs Vlasic 5v5 (74 mins):
CF: 47% (80-90)
Fenwick: 53% (59-53)
High danger chances: 43% (10-13)

McDavid vs Braun 5v5 (74 mins):
CF: 45% (77-94)
Fenwick: 51% (57-55)
High danger chances: 42% (10-14)

Can let others judge who they shut down better 5v5. Vlasic/Braun along with SJ's system are no joke at evens. Depth is/was a must to take them down.

Heh heh...I'm not going to play this game. Sorry man.....don't have time to nitpick through all your posts to provide my reasons why I believe this.

I am not here to argue Crosby vs. McDavid in general, but Crosby against Sharks was way, way better than McDavid was.

Ignore the stats, Crosby was flat out dominant in Games 1, 2 and 6. McDavid, imo, did not display that. His other games were similar to McDavid in this series.

But we are comparing a 29 year old to 20 year old, and not fair to McDavid.

First time I've seen him hit full stride in a while. Speculation that he's had the flu that was going around the Oilers room, guess we'll see how he does back at home.

McDavid was incredible in the first tonight, but again failed to get a point.

8 GP- 0 ES points

He's still the biggest contributor to the team other than Talbot even if he isn't scoring. He's a very good defensive player and constantly backs up defenders with his speed

he had like 5-6 point blank opportunity's. eventually it will fall into place.

He definitely played well enough to earn at least one point today, but maybe it makes up for the last couple games where he didn't play as well yet still got on the scoresheet.

The points will come. What's impressive Oilers will with their depth and goaltending, not as a one player team, as speculated during regular season.

I mentioned this in the Ducks-Oilers GDT but what has popped out to me this playoffs is the amount of abuse teams get away with in trying to stifle his speedy rushes. It's exactly the opposite of the star treatment cliche. Kind of reminds me of the tactics teams get away with in trying to contain Gronkowski in the NFL. Goes even beyond the increased leniency towards physical play and specifically interference that you normally see in the playoffs.

I know how is a shadowing if your are grabbing and slashing him up and down the ice? makes no god damn sense. that's not good defense. that's just penalties not called because its thevplayoffs and he's only 20. eventually it was even out.

He looked good in the first period, if he plays like that the points will come. I was really worried he was hurt because he wasn't trying to really explode with the skating stride in game 1. But his skating was back today. Entire team kinda played lackadaisical after getting up 2-0 I thought. Young team needing to learn some lessons.

But up 2-0 without McDavid really making a stamp on the series yet, yeah I'll take it anyday.

Every star player has had this kinda treatment for the last three decades, it's not something new.

Go watch Mario score with defenders literally on his back, its ******** and it contributes to injuries and lower scoring but hey the league doesn't seem to care.
