I posted this just before Christmas I believe it was, when listening to Sirius they were saying(on multiple interviews) the Oilers were almost certainly going to rest him until after the all star break. As much as I didn't want it to be true it looks like it may be true.

God I hope not, the return of Mcdavid is as exciting as counting down the days until Christmas when I was a child haha

spec is saying we dust off McJesus' uniforms on the 2nd of feb for his grand return

that would make sense. We are just starting to get estimates on Yak's return now, and he won't be back until midway next week. McDavid was also wearing a non-contact jersey last practice so he's not as close as many thought.

Well Yak was wearing the same jersey and he'll be back soon.

Right on trust Spector to jump in and mess everything up.
Now if he comes back earlier (which it sounds like he could) the Oilers risk looking like they rushed him.
Spector went and set Feb2 as the "proper" or sensible time for his return.
The 4-7 games he could come back for prior to the all-star break are all huge... heck even its just a couple games, we need all the points we can get and he will help this team no doubt...
Or perhaps Feb2 is the sensible time, just seems like he could be ready by the Calgary game and even that would be conservative, but what do I know...
Spector also said when the original injury happened that the team keeps telling him 4 months when the team never said any deadline.

I thought he heard it as "Connor is out 4 months" when Chia actually said "Connor is out for months"

Yes, that's what he said.

That's what Chia told the entire planet when he addressed the injury at a press conference.

Spector is probably still shunned or he didn't even bother to clarify something which I and many others on here originally interpreted correctly.

This season sucks. Then again, every season for the last 6 years has basically been the worst case scenarios actually happening, so injuries to Eberle, McDavid, Klefbom shouldn't really be a surprise.

The fact that I could even type about a playoff spot is a positive overall I guess.

Talbot has been playing fantastic. I don't think we finish bottom 5.

Yup, season over.

They maaaaaaybe had a chance if Klefbom didn't also get hurt and they didn't blow that Calgary game and now the Tampa game last night and could get McDavid back fairly by mid-January or so.

Now it's over, they have no chance.

Our luck has been terrible this year. Not just injuries, last night was another great example.

This team is playing miles better than last year, and we are missing McDavid and Klefbom. At worst, we are adding a vet upfront and a top 4 D next year.

I truly believe this is the last bad year

Yup, it's not the amount of points they are out, it's the number of teams they need to jump over. Plus the other Pacific teams they are trying to catch all have games in hand on them- Sharks-4 Yotes, Flames-2, Canucks-1. The Oilers are on pace for a sub 75 point season right now. With a 6 game win streak in the 1st half that is really, really damning. 75 points will be good for bottom 3-5 at best.

Yeah season's over.

I don't even care for the draft lottery, but it will be monumentally hilarious if they win it again this year *because* the NHL changed the format.

Talbot also blew the Calgary Halloween game and the LA game where we got robbed

so Oilers

****, depressing, as usual with the oilers. Man what a heartbreaking year it has been. We lost so many close games we should of won, and now we lost mcdavid for over 12 weeks
