McDavid right now is looking like he did in the OHL last year. And thats very scary. Hes making similar plays, having similar impacts on the game and defenders look just as helpless. And hes a rookie- 19 games into this career

An interesting stat is that Crosby had 21 pts in his first 19 games, McDavid is at 24, and in lower scoring era

What really impresses me about McDavid is that he almost always makes the right play. For the amount of times that the puck is on his stick, he rarely makes mistakes or turns it over or having the play die on his stick.

He's a player that defies classification. He is a sniper, two-way player, play maker, defensive specialist, offensive specialist, pp specialist, (probably great PKer as well), etc. The most you could say about him is that he's not going to bother leading in hits or fights. He's all about the puck

If he decided to switch to playing defense he would probably Norris at least a few times in his career. He'd be like Karlsson

Am glad that McD got some points last night, and Ebs and Poo chipped in, but need to keep the lid on the gushing enthusiasm a wee bit, as we just overcame an AHL team after having a brutal 1st period. Things promise to get tougher again when we start facing real NHL competition again.

His hand eye coordination is just incredible. I don't know how many times he just easily knocks the puck out of the air likes its no thang.

The way he can keep control of the puck at high speeds is unseen. Even on his first goal last night, the puck was rolling and he was still able to deke out the goalie.

Guys I'm all aboard the McJesus train, and I thank him for helping us towards getting Matthews, but did some of you even look at our Roster last night?

The Marlies would have had their with us and then some.

but even during that recent losing streak where we were getting blown out, McDavid still found a way to get his points. That's on the road where chances are they were putting their best checkers on him.

He's currently at 4.29 PP60. Kane is second at 3.84. Now not a huge sample size but still impressive for a rookie who isn't playing on a Stanley Kup team.

It's already starting to happen. McDavid gets 5 points and it's not a massive deal to everyone else. It's expected. By this time next year everyone will be admitting what we already know. He's the best player in the league.

This is why I like the Fedorov comparison.

It's been interesting to see the lack of objection around the boards to that comment. Everyone has to admit, he is playing like one of the best players in the league without a doubt.

We should put him on defence. He gets to play ~28 minutes a night and I feel it would take one full summer of him learning everything he can and practicing every day with the best defensive coaches in the world to become a Norris candidate. Then you run Draisaitl-RNH down the middle.

while you are 100% correct, you still need to actually BEAT those supposedly inferior teams, and you still need to rack up points against those same teams.... everybody else plays the bad teams (hell, they do every time they play us, lol), but a 5 point game is still very rare .... you can only play the team in front of you, and putting up 5 against *anybody* is worth some celebration

Pretty much. I think some people forget how unpredictable hockey can be at times in the NHL. Hell this **** team put together .500 hockey to end last season with a god awful lineup and beat the Kings when they desperately needed a win to make playoffs. Any team can win on any given night whether they're filled with AHL players or not.

He's just got it all. When you look at skills and abilities of a player likely to go 1st overall it can be a combination ofskill, speed, shots, hands etc. They may not possess ALL of that during the time they are drafted.

Connor has all of those plus passion.
