Calgary is dirty team and like injuring the Oilers players. His first games from injury should be against anyone but the Shames.

No they don't. Your referring to one Regher, that's in the past, over done with. Hemsky showed him. It's the Flyers that came into the league with that repuation and are still trying to emulate it 40 yrs later, regardless of the rule changes, and why not, since this is a profeesional crap league that chooses to close a blind eye, hence Connor on the shelf by 2 of their plugs

You got the Flames confused with the Canucks. The Flames are an even smaller team the Edmonton, they just play bigger. The Regehr days are in the past.

As a Flames fan I think you got the opposite, we're not that small (minus Gaudreau), but we play soft as buttermilk biscuit. We have maybe 4 guys who throw hits and 1 is Gaudreau and the other is a rookie.

McDavid may have torched the flames last time, but I hope he comes back for the BOA game.

I'm fine with him coming back that game as long as Kassian gets called up for that game too with seek-and-destroy instructions for any Flame that lays glove or lumber on McDavid.

Then send him promptly back down after

He sure as hell looks ready to go after seeing those clips of him at practice.

If you can take one timers with enough velocity to snap sticks, I reckon you can take hits too.

It's possible that he would already be back if this were a playoff situation or something like that.

As it is, I think it will be another two weeks at best.

Well we are 2 points out of the playoffs. Technically we are in the race.

Yes, but not actually playing post-season games.

Patrick Kane, for example, would not have returned from a very similar injury after 7 weeks if they weren't in the playoffs. It wasn't a coincidence that he was scheduled to miss 8-12 weeks and was ready for Game 1.

ahh yes, I see what you mean. Ya, probably. Still think he will be back soon. Got to think Tampa is possible given we have 3 full days off at home before that game.

Considering how they're handling him, and the fact that he's still practicing without contact, I have to think 2+ weeks. Expect he'll practice with contact for a full week before he ever plays.

Where is this coming that he's non-contact? I thought reports were that he was participating in regular drills, wearing the regular coloured jersey.

I could have sworn I read that he was in a non-contact jersey, but I googled and you're right.

Okay, cool. That changes things.

I don't think he's taking full practices. Not contact anyway. It's probably just skating, shooting and faceoff drills.

McLellan joked around that they were thinking of playing him right away, but quickly said that that wasn't realistic. It will likely be a few weeks yet. The optimistic reports still say mid-to-late January

I think he'll be back on the 12th for the game against Arizona. 3 huge division games that we need badly. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him next game to get a few warmups before those division games.:yo:

I think they're gradually upping the stress level on that collarbone. Faceoffs take a good amount of strength and he was shooting pucks so hard he broke a stick yesterday. I'd imagine he'll start light contact almost right away.

I'm pretty sure the bone is more or less healed. It's now been over 8 full weeks, Kane was already playing NHL playoff games at 7 weeks.

But they will be cautious ... the protocol likely always was that they would wait an extra full week on top of when the doctors think he could play.

Who cares if they don't lay their gloves/lumber, I'd just tell Kassian smash everything:laugh:

Bring him back for the divisional games. Those are crucial if the Oilers want to stay in the playoff race

Yup. We're in a deeper hole then it appears. Every team in the division has games in hand on us. SJ has 4, Calgary & Anaheim have 3.:(

Don't expect McDavid back during this homestand. The Oilers will be very cautious with him and you might not see him until after the All-star break. He has yet to take part in any contact drills, so I'd guess the earliest we see him is mid-January. Until we see him involved physically in battle drills during practice no one should expect him to play in a game.
