I think some are actually selling Bedard short at this point. Maybe all because of his height. Bedard just had probably the most dominant year of a JR player this decade. Yes to me he was more dominant then both Crosby and McDavid. McDavid had a stacked team and line. Both the Q and OHL were higher scoring leagues at those guys time vs Bedard in the WHL last year. Both had quite a few 100+ points guys, last year the WHL had two. Bedard had 148 points the next guy 107 ( in 11 more games). Also Bedard had 71 goals the next guy 50 (who also played 11 more games).I think he's gonna do about what Kane did, more goals, fewer assists than Kane but 70-75 pts.
Also both Sid and McDavid had much more offensive support/linemates (especially McDavid). Bedard basically carried his line/team. Those other guy both had multiple 100+ point guys. All guys dominanted there leagues though. So the tie breaker as to me as far as dominant year is the WJC performance of Bedard. Which was just unreal.
To me also as far as NHL ready physically, it was probably 1 Sid, 2 Bedard, 3 McDavid. Sid was probably the strongest as a 1st year pro, but he also came into a more physical style NHL. While yes McDavid was an all world skater, he was the weakest from a strength stand point of the 3. I really don't understand why people started buying into the Bedard may not be physically ready or small/tiny. Bedard is not small at all (he is short), he is 185 pounds of almost all muscle. Kid is a gym/rink rat.
Also the NHL is more open/ geared to scoring today (especially compared to Sids rookie year). I think Bedard low is probably ppg and he very well could break 100. Really don't see the whole Kane comparison at all. Love Kane but Bedard is just a more skilled kid. That and Kane came into the NHL at 160, while Bedard is 185.
