"Connor took the coaches board and started drawing up plays off the face-off," said Regina right wing Borya Valis, Bedard's linemate at the time. "We're all like, 'Oh, he knows what he's doing.' After the game, Connor told us he had been thinking about that play for a week and wanted to try it.

"It was an awesome moment. I was like, 'Yeah, I guess Connor can be a player and coach.'"

Bedard would have abused this man

I think Bedard is the second most popular athlete in Chicago already.

1. Justin Fields
2. Connor Bedard
3. Chicagoans want to blow up the Bulls.
4. The Cubs are just getting started.
5. The White Sox are more unlikable than the Bulls.
6. Candace Parker left for Las Vegas.
7. The Chicago Fire have not been relevant for 10+ years.

This is probably accurate. For me you could switch 3 and 4, but not everyone is a Cubs fan.

Ohtani might shake up that top 3 some day

Is Fields popular though? On average, I mean. He seems to have a lot of fans and haters that make me think he averages down a lot.

As for popular contenders... is anyone really super popular here other than maybe Dosunmu, and that's more of a scrappy hometown kid kind of right, right?

They went on sale today at 2 PM for Boston atleast. I was in the lobby at 1:50. Felt like people were going to want to see Bedard and Boston is already a hot ticket anyway. I am 20 rows behind the Blackhawks bench. I paid 200 ea. Tickets are already 300+ just to get in now.

I think you're overrating how popular he is because he went to UofI.

Lotta Chicago kid's. He's a bench player on a bad team.

Sure, but not many on the Bulls, and the picking on other teams is tangibly thin right now. I'm not claiming he's a superstar, but nobody dislikes him and the alternative options either have loads of haters as well or have a low ceiling popularity due to also being on bad teams.
