Question. Would you take Kane’s individual career (no guarantee on three cups) for Bedard?

It’s kind of wild but I think I would feel pretty disappointed with that. Which is kind of ridiculous of me.

Kane's offense with better defense would be acceptable.

I think he bottom mark for Bedard is kane level. I think he ends up at center. so that gives him a bump and at 17 he is already 10 lbs heavier then kane now. I think he ends up 5-10 195 or so 2 way center that puts up 40 and 60. Kane has the great hands but oustide of 2-3 years he tends to overpass and plays very AVG D. you could argue for the cup runs Teows was more important then Kane. 2 way 70 Point center who PK and shut down the other teams best line. won faceoffs. kane has been way better since 2015 then toews

I looked at the Capitals 05/06 season as a sort of example for what to expect with Bedard and the Hawks. They finished 4th last in the league depsite Ovie putting up 106 points and 52 goals. The trick was they gave up the 2nd most GA in the league which considering our current goaltending is something i think we can also expect this season.

Apparently nobody can comprehend nuance.

There's a reason Bedard is going #1 and not Fantilli or Carlsson, he is far & away the best prospect and skill trumps all. But to pretend being taller isnt an advantage is idiotic. If size is completely irrelevant why is everyone gung ho about taking a big player at 19 & getting big linemates for Bedard? Because size is an advantage, it can help compensate for holes in your game. That obviously doesnt mean Bedard isnt going to be the runaway best player in the draft ffs.

Like seriously if you can't understand that then your parents and teachers have failed you.

I don't think you just assume Bedard is going to put on another 10 pounds. He probably doesn't tbh. 185lbs at 5'9" is pretty sturdy.

Kane talked about trying to put on weight in his 4th or 5th year iirc. He found it nerfed some of his quickness. I'm not sure how many 5'9"ish players you see in the league pushing 200lbs.

Kaprizov is 5'10 202lbs, but Russian forwards are just built different. Ovie, Senko, and Kap are all way heavier than most other guys their same height.

Bedard will definitely put on a few lbs, but I wouldn't project a massive jump.

Like I played with a kid that played in the ECHL. 5'7 165. I'm 6'1 230. Wasn't scared if Richie took a run at me. Played with with a dude who was 5'9 maybe 180. Pitbull of a man. That guy got a twenty foot head start he could put me in the hospital.

I don't like saying you need to have played to understand.... But sometimes you need to have played to understand.

I think because of the size and 200 foot requirements combined with pathological desire and ability to score goals, that he will move to wing to help enable that.

lol, he is a perfectly fine 200 ft player that will only improve. He's not small, he'll be fine size wise.
