Beware the traffic. It really is as hideously g-dawful as its reputation suggests, if not moreso. My sister and her kids used to live in some suburb near the Occoquan before she moved back here, so I've had to drive in the area previously. Near as I can tell, there is no such thing as an "alternate route" anywhere in the area. It is a maze of gibbering madness.

Otherwise, enjoy! :D

I have family in McLean, driving on the beltway is not fun, scary in fact..

Top of my not-to-be-missed places to see in DC is the "Newseum". Incredible!

I'm going to miss your clear headed and reasonable posting, Pete. Drop in a while before you completely convert to a Caps fan.

Thanks, Derby, I'll still be around here. In fact, this will be my main source of info for the CBJ, so I'll be deepening on you! My brother is in journalism in DC, so I've been to the Newseum and agree that it is great.

You're right, Viq, it is terrible, but the public transit is good and we're going to be in a very walkable area.

A loss for Columbus, pete - please continue to stop in from time to time and save us from self-immolation of our fan base here.

Best of luck to you on the next phase of your journey!

Thanks, Nana!

:scared:

I'm not sure which I found more distasteful - the one time I dared to try getting on the beltway for longer than the distance between 95 to whatever-the-heck-that-road-is-whose-name-I-can-never-remember-it-goes-to-Cumberland-but-isn't-an-interstate or getting caught in rush-hour traffic on 95. Both are experiences I don't care to repeat anytime soon, if ever.

EDIT: Double-checked the map and now I'm even more confused as to where I was going one particularly horrible day. I've tried so damn many alternates that they've blended together.

Very nice. :) We weren't near any public transit of note, so it was... not fun. :(
Hope the move goes well!

Im possibly in the market for 2 cheap tickets for the game tomorrow. I say cheap because i already made the 3 1/2 hour each way trip to Nationwide once this week on Tuesday, and the cost adds up. This time probably wont get a hotel and will just drive back home. Thanks!

Talked to a buddy of mine who has ST in sec 102. Said something about his ticket prices going up by a significant amount because his section was "reclassified". It doesn't look like that happened with my seats.

Anyone else on here affected by this that has ST's?

102 was already the highest priced section with the exception of the Time Warner seats and the glass seats. Not sure they could reclassify them to make them more expensive unless they did the same thing to 103 and 104 behind the benches too.

Were his seats close to the ice? I could see them doing something for the seats closer to the glass. Maybe expanding what they consider "Glass seats".

I actually think they are in the handicapped area because his wife has some sort of disability. They used to be about mid-section. I thought he said that whole area was reclassified.

102 has been one of the most empty sections in the last few games I've been too. I would be interesting in seeing a ST holder breakdown by section.

In hindsight, I am so happy that I was not able to score tickets to that game. 7 hours of driving would have been brutal to see us get shut out 4-0.

Renewed on Saturday and got moved to the aisle. Waiting until the deadline to see if we can move up some rows.

That Groupon is NOT a good deal. 200 level seats are $9 at resale for the 3/24 game. With the exception of the Pens game, there is no reason to pay over $16 for 200 level seats to any remaining game...

Mine were the same price as last year for a full season.

On the other hand, I also sit in the upper section with all the other plebeians.

Wall Street Journal named Columbus the 2nd best "small city" for restaurants. San Antonio was #1, and they are the 7th biggest city in the US, so not sure where "small" comes from.

San Antonio is massive in population for the same reason that Columbus is: the city annexes areas in order to extend water and sewer service. San Antonio is 7th in population and Columbus 15th, but the metro area population ranks are 25th and 32nd, respectively.
