This might not necessarily fit the Blue Jackets needs, but a Greenway and Roslovic swap could be interesting

Apols for the non-Jackets tangent, but Greenway might be available?

Over the offseason, yes he will likely be on the table as they work to clear some money for the coming cap crunch.

During this year, likely zero chance they are willing to part ways with him given that the line he is on is one of the better lines in the league. He would need to be a piece going the other way in a significant add for that to happen. And while I think Roslovic would make some sense as a flyer, he’s not that type of upgrade.

How strained is the relationship with Roslovic? Is he trending towards being a non-tender candidate in the summer?

Jordan Greenway is on pace for 8 goals and 30 points.
Lets relax on the hyperbole. Minnesota would have to add to get Roslovic.

It's not hyperbole to say that he contributes to the success of a line that's massively important to the Wild's success this year, and that he's unlikely to be traded for anything realistic before the deadline.

His price in the offseason is a completely different question.

his value is around a 3rd/maybe conditional second.

His value is whatever Minnesota is willing to accept to give him up, because he is a Minnesota Wild player.

I don't want to trade Roslovic either, but the moment you start dictating player value to that player's team, you've lost.

What are some good RHDs you can part ways with ? Also, is Necas available?

Canes are pretty thin at RHD, certainly so in terms of trade chips. We have Scott Morrow and Aleksi Heimosalmi in the pipeline who have been increasing their stock lately. Other than that it's Pesce, DeAngelo and Bear. Pesce is off the table, DeAngelo I can't see being traded either and Bear probably doesn't move the needle much for the BJs. He was solid to start the year but since getting covid hasn't been great and has been a healthy scratch lately. He could easily be thrown in with picks/prospects though.

Necas is theoretically available but I'd have to say no to him in any Laine trade -- Necas will almost certainly be cheaper, is younger and frankly has been playing a better game than Laine lately.

Still think Laine winds up with the Canes at some point to join the rest of the Finns here and revive his career with Aho. What is his trade value right now?

Kotkaniemi for Laine? Carolina gets the better player, when on his game, but pays the higher caphit. Columbus gets the better organizational need, potential top 6C, who while being costly due to QO is still cheaper.

Laine would return more than that.

Possibly but he hasn't been nearly the same the last two seasons as he was his first four. He doesn't seem like a good fit in Columbus and his QO is large, so a long-term deal is risky if he doesn't rebound. Kotkaniemi is steadily improving and is a couple of years younger. His all around game is so much better and he plays the more desirable position. His QO is large for his current production but if he continues to develop and hit his potential it'll be a good deal. It will be similar to the Laine for Dubois deal where neither team really wins in the end, neither player separates themselves from the other and both teams are kinda happy.

Theres no possibly, im right. KK is about to turn 22 next year and has 81 points to his name in his career, and needs a huge QO himself without anywhere near the production. If youre going to give someone a huge QO based on potential, you give it to the guy you know can be a 30-40 goal scorer in the league, not the guy who might not be anything more than a 3C ever. He's steadily improving from a very terrible player, to a average at best. That doesn't return one of the better young goal scorers in the league who has almost twice as many goals as KK as total points, and will be still only 24 at the start of the year. Laine at his worst, still brings better numbers than KK. thats not even up for debate.

KK needs to be around a PPG player next year to be worth Laine based on his career to date.
