Colorado get:

Pavelski 50% retained UFA 2022 3,5M
Klingberg 50% retained UFA 2022 2,125M

Dallas get:

Logan O`Connor 0,75M / 1.050M UFA 2025
Tyson Jost 2M RFA 2023
Ryan Murray 2M UFA 2022
1st 2023
3rd 2022

Colorado goes all-in. Dallas wont contend this year and will need cheap contracts going forward. O`Connor and Jost will address that. Murray is in for cap-reasons as an expiring contract. Colorado doesnt have a 1st 2022, so they add the 2023 pick. I suppose Colorado wont give Newhook or Byram for rentals. Any takers?

Colorado lineup:

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Burakovsky - Kadri - Pavelski
Compher - Newhook - Nichuskin
Aube-Kubel - Maltsev - Sherwood

Toews - Makar
Johnson - Klingberg
Johnson - Girard

Pavelski is worth a 1st+
Same for Klingberg
Especially @ 50%
You're not offering 2 x 1st + in value here, Jost and O'Connor don't bring 1st rd pick value to the table.

They are cheap bottom6 players with upside. Also under control for years. I`m pretty sure O`Connor is worth a 2nd and Jost a 3rd on their own. Dallas is in need of cheap players with upside. I actually think this would benefit Dallas. I was actually gonna propose Newhook, but I doubt Colorado moves him. They will loose Kadri after this season and he is probably their next 2C. Byrams health is a concern and I doubt he is movable either.

The Avalanche don't need Klingberg and can't afford to let O'Connor go.

Thats why O`Connor is listed. I actually think the kid will get even better. The lineup I posted would be very good after the trade though. This is a "all-in" move and usually you have to pay something to try it.

As mentioned above, we literally can't afford to let O'Connor and his contract go.

Covid-season. What if Makar and Toews go down? The last 2 seasons teams cant know what they will need in 1 week.
If Makar and Toews suffer separate misfortunes then John Klingberg isn't going to replace them.

Ok. I suppose O`Connor and Klingberg would be out then. Pavelski would absolutely fill a need. What about this:

Colorado get:

Pavelski 50% retained 3,5M

Dallas get:

Tyson Jost 2M RFA 2023
Murray 2M
1st 2023

We get rid of Jost and Murray and it only costs a 1st round pick? Sign me the f*** up.

Late 1st, a crap shoot mid pick (basically a 4th), a cap dump, an energy player who brings nothing compared to the guys we already have in the bottom six and a mildly interesting guy playing well. Perhaps could argue that O’Connor is a late-bloomer, but he isn’t even that young anymore so yeah…

Not a package to move those two for, and definitely not to retain on them as well.

I still see some upside in Jost. Murray not so much. He is just in for the cap.

He is basically a young Raffl. I’d rather re-sign Raffl than lose out on premium assets\picks

Well yes, but the kid has showed some promise and he is extended for 1M until 2025. Thats very valuable.

Colorado doesn't have a good reason to pay what the cost will be for Klingberg. Might have more success lookin at a deal around Pavelski that doesn't include LOC.

His underlying numbers last year are a bit better than Gurianov’s and this year Jost’s numbers are worse than Gurianov’s. And if you now add into the mix the quality of their respective teams, Jost should be blowing Gurianov out of the water for me to even consider him having some magical upside left.

Colorado doesn’t need Klingberg.

Pavelski for Jost + 1st + some type of conditional pick

Yah cause he's a good cheap bottom 6er and they need him

But yoy're not trading top top6 pieces that wouls brinf back 1sts + for a late 1st, a botton 6er who's not that young anymore and a bust

Lets agree to disagree. I believe O`Connor has Top6 potential and Jost is a serviceable bottom6 player.

I think Dallas could do better splitting them up in trades. O’Connor and Jost are nice players, but I’m hoping that Dallas is inching towards a rebuild and a couple 1st round picks would be more helpful

I'd absolutely do Jost, Murray and a 1st for Pavelski, and I like Jost, he just badly needs a change of scenery
