I disagree. I think Kojima is at his best when he's jumping the shark.

3
1
4
2
5

I did really like 5, but not getting a proper ending kills it for me.

Lol that’s practically the reverse ranking of mine. 3 we both agree was good, it had a simple story and the mechanics were tailored to jungle play. 2 I liked more because even though the map was smaller, the story had me shitting myself multiple times. I liked being introduced to crazy Kojima. 4 on the other hand was Kojima being gratuitously nonsensical. The bosses as female robots with postpartum depression was a prime example of insanity. 1 was simply too primitive, 5 the best because I like open world and it was basically a movie.

I loved the story of 1 and when it first came out was incredibly innovative. Listening to Liquid's ranting and ravings was also just pure fun.

2 at the time always left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Playing the tanker demo as Solid, only to have a complete bait and switch playing as Raiden annyoned me to no end.

3 was perfect. Everything about it.

4 was pretty much the only conclusion they could come up with after all they crazy the previous games came up with. Other than the oddly on the nose prediction that 2 had, these games have always been heaps of crazy. Nonsensical is Kojima's bread and butter.

5 again, was good, but without a proper ending just felt unfinished and empty. Also replacing David Hayter with Kiefer Sutherland really, REALLY sucked. Through half of the tape recordings I forgot that was supposed to be big Boss talking. And I know at the ending they kinda address that, but I thought it was pretty terrible.

This Valeri Rantanen guy might be pretty good.

Well, the booth rotation has gotten a bit smaller and a bit lower in quality. Adam Foote joined the Canucks as an assistant coach on Sunday. That leaves The Big E and Johnny Mitchell to aggravate me the rest of the season.

The entire KSE view of the on air staff befuddles me. Ryker is clearly being an over the top homer in hopes of kissing KSE butt. I liked him as the color guy the first games after Maxy passed, largely because he was perceptive and QUIET. LaCroix can't even pronounce the player's names correctly. Put Katie G ( Lauren 3?) in the studio with Keefe, give me the early Ryker and Moser in the booth. Stop the dual color guy experiment. Too much yammering. Only McGahey needs to worry about filling air. The rest are on TV for Christ' sake, and we do not need to hear them jabber incessantly.

I really can't stand anyone on Altitude other than McGahey and JML.

Gotta be honest I don't know why some of y'all even bother watching or listening to Altitude. The constant bitching from some of you about EVERY single person on the air makes me think you should either just mute the TV or pull up the radio feed of the opposition.
I prefer Altitude over any US national broadcast but whenever the Avs play a Canadian team I treat myself with the Canadian feed.

Night and day.

By all means, please do so. Nothing wrong with utilizing options. I've honestly never had an issue with the current Altitude product. Their early years, yes, they had a rough, rough start. They're fine now.

Some of y'all though, Jesus, I thought I complained a lot.

McGahey sounds like an AI trying do a Mike Haynes impression. He's terrible. I've never understood why people like him.

I think it's in our culture (if not nature) to comment more when we want something (or someone) we care about to be better. I know I'm a lot more critical and negative on this board than I am in real life. Not because I think I'm jerk here or anything (maybe I am) but because I tend to talk about things that need improvement. So if you look at what I have to say, a lot of it probably is negative. It doesn't mean I don't like or care about the players, team or broadcast crew. I just want them to be better.

Altitude though...It was really tough for me when I got CI because I was really bummed by the quality of the broadcast. This was back in the mid-00s. It wasn't that they lacked professionalism, it's that their hook was juvenile. You had the Keefer doing the frat boy thing in the studio and Hayes and McNab just rambling on about anything but the game in hand. I eventually found a bit of charm in having a couple of random dudes just talking hockey beside me while I was watching a game. It got better with Moser, but he's still got a schtick that is "I'm a rootin', tootin', hollerin', redeneck with guts all over the place!" Everything is 11 with that dude. He just can't find the quieter moments in a game that allows his over the top calls to actually stand out.

See, I'm critical and negative about them whenever I speak? Although, I do love the addition of Katie Guass (sp?). Not like some of y'all loved the LJs. Don't get me wrong, she's cute, but she's absolutely fantastic at her job. She provides great energy and really knows the game. We've also literally seen her grow from confident but with flubs to confident with much less flubs right before our eyes. She's getting better most every broadcast. The last time I've seen such rapid growth I think was Peter Rutgazer (sp?). He was the guy that worked the studio with Brian Engblom. I think he left to do basketball somewhere but Brian really took him under his wing and the guy got GOOD at hockey from the studio.
