Wait, hold up. There’s a Brennan Vogt and Brendan Vogt both covering local Denver teams for online news outlets?
Holy... you're right. I would have never guessed that they weren't the same guy

Me too.I hope he gets better.
I hope he does get the help he needs. That old thing about not knowing what someone else is going through is very true.I Need To Talk...

I still wish him the best, but I completely quit following him after he got canned from the Post. Only see what folks post here.I'll be the dick... every time Dater gets fired or does something stupid, he comes out with one of these woe is me statements. 'Look past my abhorrent behavior because I have anxiety and get depressed. Ignore that I solicit nudes and stalk women on Twitter. Ignore that I blast my former employers for firing me. Ignore that I take zero accountability for my actions. Know that I'm in a bad place and I'm working on getting better.' He does this everytime on this song and dance routine, yet each time something happens, the same cycle repeats. I'm perfectly fine to give mulligans. We all make mistakes in life and it shouldn't always follow us forever... but this is pretty much yearly for a guy that is in his late 50s who recycles this exact same thing every single time.
Yeah my post is harsh... I'd like Dater to get better and as a human being, he should put in the work. I just hate how this crutch comes out of storage each time he gets shitcanned.I still wish him the best, but I completely quit following him after he got canned from the Post. But yeah, I would think he should take a back facing position and work on himself instead of continuously imploding in public.
A lot of people develop mental health issues situationally - get fired, lose a wife/girlfriend, being an undergraduate student (high pressure, no pay, weak position). That’s just how mental health works. I think Dater has to get his priorities straight:
Do I have enough money?
How is my family life? Social life?
Am I proud of my life?
Then stop all drugs and alcohol, and find a way to zen out. My method to zen out used to be to lay in grass on a sunny day and play with phosphenes until I napped. This type of thing is good for the brain.
While this is true, it doesn't give you full latitude to be a dick.
I think he clearly is. He draws in sympathy and doesn't accept responsibility in any real way. His schtick at this point is get fired, lash out, claim mental illness, subscribe to my new venture. He's just starting to run out of options.I don’t think he’s using it to excuse bad behaviour. It’s just that his mental illness develops during bad situations, which is the case in 90% of mental health cases. Anyway, it doesn’t excuse asking for naked pics of women on twitter.
Yeah. It came across as laden with spin and manipulative. If it was more authentic, it wouldn't have been so long winded and crafted. But having said that, I would not be surprised if his life at some point has something akin to a white Bronco. The guy said it's time to do something else. He's right about that. No need to put so much out there.Yeah my post is harsh... I'd like Dater to get better and as a human being, he should put in the work. Looks like Mile High Hockey is still up...for now.
Kinda shocking to me that Japers' Rink is getting cut off but MHH is one of six sites to survive this purge.
I kept following him through most of the crap the last few years, but I finally had to stop. He never posts anything new or breaking about the Avs anymore. He's "news" is usually hours after others have already posted it, to me signaling that he read it somewhere else and then posted it as his own. He always has an excuse as to why he can't be there or is late. The "woe is me" stuff was the last straw. Maybe he is struggling, but it comes across as more attention-seeking because he knows he's about to lose most of his followers and it allows him another excuse as to why he sucks at providing anything about the team he covers.I don’t ever see the dudes posts anymore either. I’m always pretty surprised that people still quote and follow him on here. Whatever he does next, he really should consider going back to writing a book vs doing hockey reporting. His entire career was made on that book and he’s been riding the coat tails of it for 20 years. Every gaffe and obnoxious post has been chipping away from that career achievement for a long time - there’s not much left in the reputation tank for him. He really needs to take a step back and re-think things. But I’m sure he’s also trying to support his family which makes it more difficult. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him leave Denver at some point and go cover a team in a smaller metro area. That step is probably long overdue.
There is no such thing as too much metal gear solid.Dater is Einstein's definition of insanity. But he probably does have some mental illness(es) because he keeps repeating the same mistakes without learning from them in the same context of homeless people keep remaining homeless. Not sure if he's seen a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist that specialises in behaviour/cognition, but he should probably go see one because it seems he has multiple barriers in his head that keep making him end in the same destructive pattern.
For example, people who are diagnosed with prominent ADHD/ADD as an adult get medicated and that helps them to a certain degree, but the damage is already done in terms of behaviour characteristics they conducted since they were a child. They will definitely become more focused on Vyvanse or Adderall, but that focus can be on anything that lead to their ADHD symptoms in the past if that makes sense. I remember being told by a patient that he spent three hours looking for salad dressing after he got his medication. He was most def super focused on salad dressing and I think his doctor prescribed too much mgs in the beginning, but his behaviour and cognitive functions needed to be rewired for the meds to help him.
