“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
The ESPN + version has a lot more Avs coverage. I’m watching that one now the one earlier was full of dead wings
That’s the only one I watched… didn’t want an edited down versionThe ESPN + version has a lot more Avs coverage. I’m watching that one now the one earlier was full of dead wings
I'll have to check that version out thenThe ESPN + version has a lot more Avs coverage. I’m watching that one now the one earlier was full of dead wings
@Foppa2118 looks like Adam Foote feels the same way we do re: Red Wings getting all the coverage of the rivalry over the years while nobody gives the Avs proper credit/respect despite the Avs actually winning the head to head matchup.
The Athletic had an article with the directors and before they interviewed Foote he made a comment to them on how he feels the Avalanche side has not been covered nearly as much as the Red Wings side over the years and that he hopes this documentary will be fair to the Avs. The director said that comment stuck with him because he actually agreed with it when looking back at how the media portrays the rivalry.
It’s really weird that the one that premiered was different. Just finished the ESPN+ one it was good. Definitely had more to it.I'll have to check that version out then
Not surprising, the major moments only happened in Joe Louis Arena and they're an east coast team. They're chickens for sucker punching Claude and chickens for doing what they did only on home ice.Was a great documentary… if you skip it because Red Wings got more coverage, you’re missing out.
I was hoping it would be a few parts and it could have been.
Today I learned Detroit is on the east coast. Not surprising, the major moments only happened in Joe Louis Arena and they're an east coast team. They're chickens for sucker punching Claude and chickens for doing what they did only on home ice.
I meant time zone, plus they're original six.Today I learned Detroit is on the east coast.
The eastern time zone is weird here really weird. Especially weirder where I’m at on the West side of the state.I meant time zone, plus they're original six.
Do you also find it strange that Claude and Darren have become friends but Kris seems distant from both?Kris Draper is still a p***y
Yes! Plus they way they rationalize the no call on that vicious as hell hit...10 stitches or less my ass!!My favorite part of the documentary was the most attention I have ever seen paid to the Kozlov hit on Foote in game 3 as the real first cheap shot that crossed the line. No minor, no suspension. I have argued this point so many times - even over email with the likes of Dater and Frei - and this very much felt like some vindication.
I said this on the main board thread, but Draper is easily the most unlikeable character in this Doc. I'm a softie at heart and even I felt nothing for him!Do you also find it strange that Claude and Darren have become friends but Kris seems distant from both?
I think the talk of the Blues series builds the idea that they were a frustrated team. 62 wins, best reg season ever. But they were getting tested in the playoffs, needing 2OT to win g7 against STL - a series they trailed 3-2 in. Now you get 2 games against the Avs to start the WCF - AT HOME - and lose both to go down 2-0. The dirty stuff then finally boiled over with Kozlov on Foote in gm3. They werent mentally tough and were starting to fall apart.Watched the first half last night. Don't get why they spend disproportionate time on Detroit, e.g. talk about the Blue series but not our Blackhawks series.
10 year old me at the time, who watched every minute of that series, felt like the Lemieux hit was 100% fair game but had a bad outcome. Foote getting smashed into glass was just part of it. I did not remember, however, Claude running his mouth so much afterwards.
f*** that first guy. Piece of shit.I really miss Marc Crawford and Roy’s fire.
How'd you find it in Canada?Just watched the E:60 documentary on Avs/Wings.
- Kris Draper is a whiny bitch. Always has been, and this doc reinforced that. Let it go already you loser.
- As usual the media spends boatloads more time covering the Red Wings and their journey, their reactions and then their outcomes than they do the Avalanche. Perhaps because Lemieux was traded by the Avs in 1999 they didn't feel like anything after that was worthwhile? They still missed the 1999 series, though, that put an end to Detroit's attempt at a threepeat in spectacular reverse sweep fashion.
- Thought guys like Yzerman/Sakic/Forsberg would have more to add. Felt like they hardly spoke.
- Who knows the reasoning but strange to not include Adam Deadmarsh. He was one of the most physical players on the Avs during the rivalry and was always willing to fight any Red Wings player.
- Brian Burke probably believes the league should still be governed the way it used to be re: suspensions/fights/violence lol.
- Darren McCarty comes off as extremely likeable and rational. Even though he tries to wrongfully justify his sucker punch on Lemieux, the rest of his time spent he is very likeable.
- Marc Crawford looks like a dude that knows he was along for the ride reminiscing and didn't actually do anything to help the Avs.
All in all, documentary was just ok. Again, a disproportionate amount of time dedicated to the Red Wings like all the other attempts at covering this feud. A shame, really, given Adam Foote's comments pre-doc about how he hopes the Avs side gets a little more respect and coverage.
Of Lake Michigan, obviously.Today I learned Detroit is on the east coast.
