#LAKings assign Colin Fraser to Manchester of the AHL after he clears waivers.

Y'know what? This might be a good thing for him, the Kings, and Manchester. He still gets his NHL salary, he may get an opportunity to play more, he could serve as a leader and be somewhat if a coach to the players who are learning what it's like to be a pro at the next level, and this could invigorate him to work his tail off to get back in the pro ranks.

I only hope this results in increased Lewis ice time

I think they're making room for a new center. Lewis for some reason has never been that good of a center, least in my eyes he has struggled playing down the middle (though he's also struggled statistically this season). I just don't see him having the strength or physical game to match up against other centers who are bigger or more physical than he is. His speed is more of an asset on the wings if he used it more often like he was in 2012, forcing dmen to make errors. That's a part of his game that's been missing this season.

Who takes his place? Vey, IMHO, is nowhere near ready. Vey got sent back to Manch and then sulked and was a healthy scratch a few times. Vey needs to be there until next season.

Who gets the job as the 4th line center?

He's a great locker room guy so he should definitely help out the younger players.
When he was in Edmonton he was a very good team guy. Great in the locker room and very positive. He was also a decent utility centre but on a very crappy team here. I hope he does well. Nice guy.

I thought when the kings traded Carcillo, Linden Vey would be with the kings full time but that didn't happen. Who knows what is going to happen, maybe they'll bring up Deslauriers to play left wing.

Hopefully in the offseason we let Lewis, Mitchell and Fraser go.

Vey can take Lewis's position, then we can sign Orpik/Niskanen/Meszaros back on defence.

What's with all of you and the Lewis hate ?????

If someone has to go it's the person who is using him wrong.
He is lightning fast and plays elite 4th line shut down center.

If someone needs to know what 4th lines are used for take a look to former Red Wings line centered by Draper.

Clifford - Lewis - Nolan
is a perfect shut down line who is able to neutralize opponents 1st and 2nd lines.
Of course if you expect them to score and decide games they look like garbage... as would Draper, McCarthy and co.

Or problem is the system and the 3rd line.
Stoll sucks any offense out whoever they play with him.
Like someone already said, giving away Richardson was a huge mistake.

Frattin - Richardson - Williams would be an elite 3rd line.
with lightning speed and scoring touch.
one of our biggest problems is that we can't shuffle guys around because to our 3rd line and balance the lineup.

So we have 2 easy to shut down scoring lines, a non existing 3rd
and a completely wrong used 4th line......
i really wonder why we can't score

The kings defence and penalty kill did just as good when Lewis was out of the lineup. This elite defensive play you speak of is really overrated and is used to offset just how bad he is offensively.

15 plus minutes of ice every game and he has only scored in 1 game this year. Terrible. If the bottom 6 is going to improve after this year he has to go period.

Lewis doesn't play 15 mins a night anymore, Sutter has decreased his ice time in all areas over the last month.

Lewis has also had his PK time cut, in favor of Dwight King.

Lewis over the last 20 games has seen more fourth line minutes (8 to 12) and is being used properly.

Just because he's now being used properly doesn't make him a better player. Any line that has Lewis centering them aren't scoring.

I'm not asking for a 20 goal scorer, but asking for a goal every 7 to 9 games isn't too much to ask.

I think 10 goals out of a fourth line center is not asking too much. I just don't think Lewis has those kind of hands.

He is not the type of guy that is going to score 10G playing 8 to 10 minutes a night.

Jordan Nolan will be that type of fourth liner for the Kings.

But once again we know Lewis is not skilled. The guy that has been a huge, utter disappointment is Matt Frattin.

Frattin is suppose to have soft hands, fast, and edgy. At least that's what Lombardi tried to sell.

i know a lot of players who should go before Lewis.
I am not trying to cover his offensive game. I am saying he should be
4th line center with totally different tasks then 2-3rd line minutes and scoring
