So you pick one player on the team to "build around" and the rest is cannon fodder?Imagine building around a 28 year old 2nd liner... Jeez guys, come on.

It was a rhetorical question. The answer was obviously no. I was surprised to see someone actually suggesting that he'd fetch a blue-chipper or 1st, hence my question
Coleman is not being moved without a 1st and/or borderline blue chip prospect coming back. Too many playoffs teams have brutal cap issues. He’s making 1.8m next year, hell, if NJ retains salary his value is absolutely bonkers. It was a rhetorical question. The answer was obviously no. Literally no one is saying "build around Coleman," no one.You build around Nico and Jack, not Coleman. And while he's an awesome player, a fan favourite and on a solid contract right now, if you can get a piece that helps to rebuild around those two (a good, younger NHL player or a really good prospect) then you do it. No questions. I don't really want to trade Coleman either but I'll wait to see what the return is before saying anything.

1 playoff win since 2012Disagree.
Let's not exaggerate things here.
Trading everyone over 28 is how you end up in a perpetual rebuild. It's okay to have older guys on your team.
Kind of weird how that was never a concern when we extended Greene ans Zajac all those years ago, yet suddenly is now.
He isn't pending until next year. At some point we will need secondary players. No, but picking a secondary player that can walk as a free agent before the rest of the team is ready isn’t one of those players
I said this elsewhere but if Pickles ends up with Brad Marchand in Boston, he's dead to me.

We are building around Nico and Jack, Coleman is around Nico and Jack. we are building with the Colemans, Palms and Gusevs, not around them.
A guy making sub-$2M in a cap world for this season and next who is an elite PKer AND scores 20+ goals a year is 100% worth at least a first or a high-end prospect.
1 playoff win since 2012
top-4 draft pick (Larsson) traded foa superstar (Hall), the superstar traded
underwhelming 1st rounders
good developped picks like Coleman traded
underwhelming free agents signings
and the good trades (Palmieri, Vatanen) are probably going to be traded as well.
Sound a lot like the Oilers or Sabres.
Disagree.

like he’s got a choice in where he goes lol

There are literally 2 posts in the last 2 pages that said Coleman is a guy to build around. I don't know if they're being serious or not but they're there.
And I said I don't really want to trade Coleman either in my post, because I agree he'd be a good piece to have alongside Nico and Jack. But if the return is good enough then so be it, there's no denying Coleman's value is very high right now, perhaps the highest it'll ever be.

Quality posts..Doesn't matter if he has a choice or not.
If he's a Bruin (or rather a Brad Marchand groupie on that team), F him.
