I know I’m in the minority here but I just can’t shake off the worry about his size and the potential for injuries. If he was built like MSL it’s one thing, but he’s not.

Don’t know man, I would have waited another 2 years to see what happens before giving him the big contract (If the rumor is true)

caufield is worth 10 million so anything less is a steal to me
I donno about that, 1st full year and already injured. He's an incredible player but he's a midget and this injury is a bad start to his career.

He should get the exact same number as Suzuki. Give PLD the same number too.

I've always though that every contract should be tied to certain metrics and GP would certainly be at or near the top.

Didn't know Kane had an arm injury like Bedard and used this time to work on his backhand.

Hopefully, Cole is doing the same

I know they say absence makes the heart grow fonder but there's no planet in which CC is worth 10mil.

He's significantly better than Suzuki who is at about 8 million. I'd say the difference between the two is 2 million. Of course, I'd love to sign him for as little as we can get away with but a 21 year old dynamic offensive player is something I'm willing to overvalue.

Show us the comparison. Is he better than Jason Robertson?

If Caufield is worth 10M then how much is a center scoring more goals than Caufield and having 3X more assists is worth? 19M? 22M?

Well Caufield missed half the season so it's a bit silly to use numbers to determine his worth lol. That said, I'd say Hughes is worth 10-12 M AAV one of the top offensive players in the league.

No he isn't but Robertson is underpaid. Idc about comparisons anyway because I'm not signing the contract or bartering with his agent. My view is of how good Caufield is not a number I'm presenting to try and get him to take a cheaper deal but rather a value I have based on my opinion of the player. It's my view that Caufield is one of the best dynamic offensive players in the league and if the cost to sign him for his entire prime is 10M per than so be it, to me, that would be a better use of our cap space than trading him over a 2 million dollar difference in evaluation.

But obviously try and bring his number down as low as you can if you're Hughes. Couldn't care less if he winds up underpaid in 2 years time etc...

I get it. For you, as a fan, he's worth 10M.

A winger isn't worth 10m if he's not named Ovechkin...

Marner isn't and he's amazing. Kucherov doesn't make that and Pastrnak has proved much more than Caufield has in 2 seasons before earning it.

We all know the talent but it's not like he brings more intangibles than goals and assists. If cap goes up we can justify 8m ish but we get 8 years. Can't fathom it'll be much more than that, if the agent dares brings up taxes, Kent will rebuttal with added add campaigns and exposure revenue....

Anyone else think Cole isn't a proven asset yet? We haven't even seen one full season of play from him yet. I dunno, I'm just very skeptical and admittedly pessimistic about thinking we could actually have a decent player that will consistently score 30 goals+ a year.
