No one with only 19 goals at the end of the calendar year has ever hit 50, but along with Suzuki I don't worry about raw totals with this kid. I only worry that management will fail to surround them with good players....

..........lol

The last guy to hit 50 (Richer) had 21 goals in 42 games at the end of the year. That's less than the pace that CC is on track for now.

So 50 is still well within range. But uh, he better start scoring again soon if he wants to hit it.

I don't think him getting 45 vs 50 is going to change much in terms of contract negotiations.

Honestly, it reminds me of MB. I'm convinced he had players held back so he could get them on cheaper contracts.

We haven't had a 50 goal man since... freaking Richer. Dude it's time. Give me the 50 now if you can! It's been way too long. Besides, it makes the games for more interesting if a player has something to pursue.
I said the same thing. The usage was so puzzling in some cases. The shortened year where PK won the Norris was one of the weirdest deployments of a star dman I’ve seen. Limited PK time etc even though he was our best defender.

It was like they wanted to prevent him from being a star. It didn’t work, but there was serious discussion about whether deserved the Norris based on his usage compared to the other nominees. Ultimately most voters didn’t hold pk responsible for the deployment he received.

Especially regarding the previous two seasons where PK and Hammer were by far our best shorthanded defending pair.

And Suzuki has 1 goal 2 assists in his last 12 games.

At least Caufield continues to score. 7 goals in his last 12 games.

It's tough for both Suzuki and Caufield as they have no back up on this team. If teams had other players to worry about, it would be a different story but there's literally zero depth. All they have to do is limit Suzuki and Caufield and the opposing teams are pretty much guaranteed a win.

Is it just me or Caufield looked pissed yesterday ? After his 1st goal, he barely celebrated with teammates, he just got the f*** out of there as fast as possible. Not saying he shouldn't be pissed, but seems to be out of character for him. Losses of course affects the team negatively, but I wonder if there's something else going on.

Lol you’re searching too far.

He wasn’t pissed, he never has a big reaction when his goals are not ‘’important’’ ones. More like a respect thing, even Anderson barely celebrated too.

This is a weird situation cause, back in the days, veterants were sure to stay in the big club, they had big contracts. And those youngs players were playing limited roles. Now, this is the opposite. Youngs players takes bigger role, and they know that those veterents are just passengers. Honestly, It should be frustrating to be the lowest paid (caufield) and to be the player to hold the team on his shoulder. When guys like armia, drouin, gally are doing sweet nothing

he's two most frequent linemates shoot less than twice per game. How in god's name is he supposed to record assists if his linemates refuse to shoot the puck
If his linemates don't shoot and score, he gets no assist, that's pure logic lol, he's the only one who shoots and scores.

Looking at the goal numbers for him tonight after finally finishing my work expenses.

Top Ten goal scorer comparisons:
9th in goals
Tied 5th in EV strength goals
39th in PP goals
Youngest player in top ten - 2nd youngest in top 25 (Hughes is slightly younger)
Lowest average ice time in top ten - 3rd lowest ice in top 25
Pacing for 47 goals

Optimistic thoughts:
With a decent PP his totals would improve significantly
With even an average offensive team his totals would improve significantly
Ice time will increase in coming years
Only 2nd year in the league - not yet in prime

Lots to be excited about with this player.

Caufield now has 45 goals in 77 games under MSL.

Already tied his 23 goals from last season.
