He wasnt fine. He did nothing most of the time, total passenger. He needs to be in the AHL for his and other players development.
I don’t think so.

And they need to keep him there for another 10-15 games. Then they can re-evaluate.

Im sorry man but its wrong. Nothing more to be said. Hes 19, hes not elite at anything, he has no identity as a player and he touches the puck once per 5 minutes of icetime.

The Joe Thornton dream is already dead and the exemple of players being developped in the NHL sucking in his first two season is pretty much him, KK, Laf, Kakko , Burmistrov and Bennett.

The success rate is dwindling.

It's hard to argue with this.

Although MSL's comparison of Slaf's development to Waze still has me in amazement.

Maybe he should go to the AHL but I think he’s already capable enough to be a 4th liner anywhere in the NHL.

Yeah but do we want him to be a 4th liner? Each line has its own role (more less), the 4th line isn't for players that "suck". It's meant to be a defensive/checking/energy line. Saying he's good enough to be a 4th liner doesn't mean that he would actually be successful on that line because the role is different. Maybe a stint or 2 on the bottom 6 to get acclimated to the NHL speed/rink size but IMO no more than that. He needs to be in the top 6, NHL or AHL because that's where we ultimately want him to be.

He had a strong first game on that line. He was okay last night. Not great but as good as anything we’ve put there. Play him for fifteen games and see what he can do. Decide after. No reason to just send him there now.

That shot is just stupid. Definitely a goal scorers goal. Not many players would’ve scored there. Guy has an absolute laser.
God how I WISH Cole right after scoring just slid his stick on the ice towards Reimer like "Hey! You wanted it so bad you can have it now big guy, I'm finished with it" and skate away celebrating

We love to see it, don't we folks? The Coal Caufield Jersey is the only piece of Habs apparel I current possess. I gave away pieces over the years due to superstition and wear-and-tear. Long may he reign.

Man, this kid is special. I love watching Caufield, then I remember how thin our offence is. With Dach and Suzuki, we have the foundation of an offensive core, but the drop-off is pretty steep beyond them. Monahan is terrific, but a complete wildcard given his age and history.

Currently our roster has nowhere close to the scoring talent and depth of the top teams. Caufield can certainly be the best sniper on a contender, but he shouldn't be the only sniper.

I thought we’d be bad this year but I thought our offense would be decent. On a roster like this the Dach injury is devastating. He gave us depth and would’ve anchored a second line. I think he, Slaf and Newhook would’ve been good. Plus we could’ve mixed and matched CC between centers. That one reaallly hurt.

I'll go even further on Dach and say he'll become our #1C, provided of course he recovers and stays healthy. Yeah, I think he's that good. If Hughes manages to build a contending roster, they'll be singing folk songs about that trade for decades to come. Losing him this season is rough; at least we had no illusions about winning anything, so we can bide our time without feeling our window is closing. It would absolutely suck to lose one of our key players in a year we're competing.

Caufield would be magic alongside Dach, but then again, Caufield will make any line better. Now let's fine another forward we can say that about.

The biggest loser (apart from Dach) on that injury was Slaf. I think he’d have been so much further ahead.

Sample size is small and things fell apart last season, despite a similar strong start, due to injuries, starting with Mono-Hab going down for the remainder of the season and Caufield joining suit.

Yetis a snapshot in time, when was the last time we had three forwards hovering around 1 PPG and having the skill tactually end the season there, if all goes well and we avoid the injury bug?

When was the last time we had three forwards with the potential to score 30+ goals at the same time.

Without exaggerating, I believe all three players could be 70-point producers if they ALL avoid the injury bug.

I'd be even more excited if Dach had been healthy, if only for the added skilled depth with size he would have brought in a season where he looked ready to break out.

Maybe, after Christmas, Roy will join the teaming add some talent to keep those three going at the same production rate with more skilled depth on the roster, enabling St-Louis to bolster his lineup?
