Confirmed with Link: [Col/Chi/Car] Rantanen (50% by Chicago), Hall, Nils Juntorp to Car - Drury, Necas, 2nd, 4th to Avs, 3rd round pick to Chicago

Fortunately not much of an issue for us given they're out West and there's no 3-on-3 in the playoffs.

Friedman said we were discussing deals for either Petterssen or Miller. Wouldn't the package we gave up for Rantenen be closer to what we'd have offered for Petterssen than what we'd have offered for Miller?
Yep, Canes can still go all in for Miller and use Hall to backfill Roslovics role.

That would be a disgusting forward group.

Finnish hockey fan here is crazy excited. Could be a one hell of duo - I'll be watching and good luck this season.

Canes bandwagoning here since the the trio of Pitkanen, Jokinen, Ruutu.

Never forget <3

We know that Laine is an UFA and Canes have a lot of cap space.

The Canes top line next season will be

Laine - Aho - Rantanen.

I don’t understand this word I’m just a layman
I think it was just a typo

He was the first to report Hall to CAR before any of the Rantanen stuff came out. He’s gotten CAR stuff right before. He’s mainly a Blues guy, but fairly reliable in what he puts out.

I get he might be legit, but there’s a lot of alarmist wording in that tweet. Why would Colorado be in panic to move him? Idk. Seems like a clickbait tweet.

Panic move probably isn’t the right term, since we’ve apparently been in discussions with them for a deal revolving around Rantanen and Necas since the draft.

But they may have panicked a bit because we were apparently thinking about dealing Necas for EP, which would cause them to lose a possible suitor for Rantanen.

And honestly, I’m not sure who I’d take over Rantanen vs. EP. Rantanen is the better player, but a FA that wants a lot. EP fits our positional need better and is already locked long term.

 look at the change in NHL scoring in the past decade and get back to me. 9 players scored 100 points or more last season. 20 were on pace for 90 or more. Very similar to the full year following the pandemic.

In 17/18, only 3 guys surpassed 100 points. Jamie Benn won the Art Ross with 87 points ten years ago. Look at goalie stats. It's really easy to see scoring is on the rise, yet people equat 100 points to what it was 6 or 7 years ago.

In Carolina lamens terms: Seth Jarvis would probably be a 100 point player next to MacKinnon
And 4 of those guys were on 2 teams.

So I can see how a fan of teams like Edmonton, Colorado, or Pittsburgh feel 100 pts isn't a big deal but all the other franchises aren't used to having players compete for individual rewards.

Man slept on it and still dumbfounded we pulled this off. Rantanen was that guy we all coveted for years but deep down knew we would never make the move to get, and would never pay market value to get in FA.

Welp, not anymore. And after Guentzel you don't make this trade unless you are FULLY comfortable giving him whatever he wants for the full 8 years, and with a rising cap and Aho, Svech, Slavin, and hell even KK locked up long term at reasonable rates and a hell of a lot of cap space coming off the books with guys like Orlov and Burns likely leaving, we are able to do it. If we end up shipping Necas and Drury for 8 years of Rantanen it's an unbelievably good deal.

What a massive move for Tulsky's introduction to the league. This is the biggest move I can even remember is being potentially linked to going back to maybe the Yzerman offer sheet. And it completely obliterates every narrative about how we operate as an organization. You aren't cheap and you aren't frugal if you are trading 2 roster players for Mikko f***ing Rantanen

Oh and Rants is absolutely the player we have always wanted Svech to be, so it would be a great person to help potentially bring that game out of him. And you can't overlook the potential of that happening with a deal like this, which could pay off even moreso down the line.
Rantanen whispers into Svechs ear, pregame swap from tea to cappuccino

ive watched miko his entire career. he's a jack of all trades. he can score and in more than one way. he can be a playmaker. he's got size to create space and wins board battles. the downsides are he not a great skater (nitpicking here). he's got a bad temper, he'll probably take a few bad retaliation penalties and he'll break at least 1 stick on someone's back before the end of the season. and finally you're going to have to pay him probably at least $13m+. overall i think canes fans will be very pleased with the results.
