I feel like they are one of the least likely teams to be involved. They're far out of a playoff spot and will be sellers. Rantanen won't sign there either

Yes, and I suspect it won't even be that difficult either. It won't happen until the summer though.

I think he was 'stuck' behind Jordan Staal as the 4C since Staal has been their perennial 3C since forever now.

I really dont think they knew what they had. He's been awesome for the Avs. I don't care if he 'only' provides Stephane Yelle type production - his two-way game is fantastic.

Rantanen likely produces more as an AAV than Necas will as an Av (maybe not), but the substantial difference seems to be that Necas can drive play by himself.

Makes him far more useful and far more helpful with roster building.

Should we actually wait to see Necas drive his line before talking about it? I mean yeah, he seems capable of doing it, but if Bednar is simply not going to separate him and MacKinnon it's kind of a moot point.

As long as he produces, we should be good. But his next contract could be expensive. Good thing is, with his skating, he's going to age pretty well I think.
