I dunno. One of the most common themes on this board for the least few years was the, uh, "unpredictability" of Mikko's nightly efforts. Guy's talent is such that he could glide around like Johnny Weir for 55 minutes, and then score twice in the 3rd (OK, including an empty net). The question is what that type of effort is worth. Answer? Apparently not what Mikko and his agent were asking for. So you make a business decision in an effort not to become Toronto 2.0. Or worse - get nothing when the Moose hits the trail. Problem is that your trade targets are cut in half - no way do the Avs send him to a contender in the West.

We got a Cup out of the guy when he was affordable. But that was then. This is now. Gotta find another way of doing it. Because we can't recreate 2022. Nobody can - maybe this is the deal that finally brings that message home.

I give MacSakic credit for being unafraid to throw the furniture around. I hope it works. And frankly I'm excited about Necas.

The Mack Cap is something people have just made up, Makar is gonna get 14-15 million because he is worth it. Rantanen at that number when you Mac, no thanks. I mean f*** we've down 14 million of first liners since basically the cup win in all of our important games. Rant is more of a Hejduk than a Sakic and he doesn't drive play, I'd much rather have Nuke than Rant at Rant's next contract number
