Martin Necas is an unbelievable player and more importantly human being. I think he’s one of the best Avalanche of all-time!

Jack Drury is immediately one of the best bottom 6 centres we have ever had and just a swell guy all around!

Those 2nd and 4th round picks are likely to turn out better than Mikko Rantanen anyways!

I’m shocked by your take. In my opinion, this even further cements the Avs as the best team in the league for many, many years to come!

There's only so much ego a team can stomach. Look, pal: you're not better than Nathan MacKinnon, you don't deserve to be making more than Nathan MacKinnon nor do you deserve to be the highest paid player in hockey.

To me, that reeks of a guy who realizes he won a Stanley Cup already and now will secure the bag while being able to coast and feast on PP points the rest of his career.

Val is the better overall player and now we have him and Necas for what Mikko wanted.

Let's see how it plays out, though more things might happen before we can even make our fake lineups. Necas isn't a huge downgrade offensively from Mikko, unless somehow on this team he is... And Drury will help a lot.

A minimal piece but much-overlooked part of this deal is that the Avs get another right-handed forward. Since JTC left they've only had LOC and Mack (and only Mack in the POs) regularly in the top-9.

It seems like a small thing but makes them much more unpredictable offensively. Otherwise you can basically close off the right side of the ice and neutralize their forehands (Makar adds a dimension but still)

That’s assuming a team with a C similar caliber to Necas was willing to move them for Rantanen. I don’t think that deal was out there. Carolina had the high end player and the want to go all in. I can’t even think of a C and D combo that would’ve been available that would be close to Necas. EP40 maybe? But that comes with a huge contract

Friedman just said Avs aren’t happy with Mitts. I hope CMac finds a way to fix this never ending 2C issue.
