I get being upset because your friend and 10 year teammate got traded, its tough and I feel for them, but I just don't think the presser is the place to show it. Mack wasn't asked, but also didn't go out of the way to even mention Necas and Drury and Bednar sounded depressed.

Even CMac was pretty clear about how tough this was for him. I don’t think the Avs ever had a thought about trading him prior to this season, but Rantanen has clearly priced himself out. Sucks but they did their best to get the return who sets them up for the future.

Bednar of all people needs to get his shit together and not mope in the press. What is he doing talking about Rantanen being his friend that he lost? I'm not saying that's not allowed, but man you're the head coach.
He is human. Not some f***ing mindless robot who is there to play hockey and keep you happy. Dude just lost one of his best friends who also happens to be top10 player in the NHL. It is going to f***ing suck in so many levels.

The Avs haven't had this happen yet. Toews, Landy, MacK, Makar... LOC or others all negotiated a fair or under market value deal. Rants we all knew would change that, his agent had a history of it. He had the history to demand it. And he was of age to need it.
Now the team understands that this is a business and they need to start being serious or they're next. The window is closing, the Avs need to retool back into a cup or rebuild. Rebuilding would be a waste of MacK and Makar's best years. Rantanen would've further killed our depth at the cost he needed and we'd have never gotten out of the wildcard.

Mack is on pace for 323 SOG, his lowest total since he had 299 in 21/22, and 206 in 20/21, when he only played 65 and 48 games. Clearly, he isn't shooting the puck as much or enough.

Nate mentioned both Necas and Drury. Called Necas an amazing player and said he loved playing with him today. Same with Drury being a good hard working player.
No issue at all with his comments. Showed Mikko love, as he should. Welcomed the new guys and showed them love too. Bednar is the one who sounded outright depressed.

Mack was for a while the highest paid player in the league so what are you talking about? Without covid stalling cap he would make even more money..

Its okay to be sad, nothing wrong with what Mac said....
But they know anything can happen in the NHL...Even greater players have been dealt.
Yeah, lately it's Bednar's comments and demeanor that have pissed me off. Seems like he's losing control more and more, and is out of answers.

Mikko Rantanen did not deserve a dollar over 11M per and even that was rich for my taste.

Judging from LeBruns report, Rantanen was basically looking at market value as well. The Avs lowballed him.
