They trade a prospect to the Avs and retain 50% on Rantanen sending him to Carolina for a 3rd round pick, then basically give Taylor Hall away to Carolina for free.

That makes no sense at all.

If their retention slots are gone they're definitely not moving Jones to us until the off season either.
