Nothing new here but something to check out. Another person saying he doesn't think the Avs are done. Also reiterates his tweet from earlier about Mikko not being the craziest name floating around over the last two days.

I don't mean to intrude, but I come in peace:

1) Necas is an uber fun, young player with loads of potential. He has also never had any extended time with other skilled line mates on Carolina, so I honestly think his stats may be better elsewhere.

2) I am--with a heavy heart-- transferring this popular meme of "Nachos" posting a random thirst-trap pic on his insta years ago. May you inherit the endless laughs it has given us on the Canes board.

Quickie blog on Friday’s massive deal: This was about two big choices.

Choice One: What was Colorado’s limit for Mikko Rantanen? Leon Draisaitl’s $14M AAV extension and the soon-to-be-rising cap altered the negotiations. (Rantanen is also represented by the same agency as Draisaitl — Octagon.) The Avalanche just weren’t willing to go in that area, with Nathan MacKinnon at $12.6M and Cale Makar eligible for a ginormous extension of his own in July 2026.

Over the last month, it became clear a Rantanen trade was a possibility. But I honestly thought they’d wait closer until the deadline to see if he relented to stay in Denver. Evidently not.

They will look at what else is available. Brock Nelson makes a lot of sense, but there will be a lot of competition and it’s not like the Islanders are waving a white flag.

No babe pics allowed.

You would like Marissa Roberto then on.TSN

Yeah, even though I'm in Michigan. Canada shit is still Geoblocked. I've tried spoofing my DTVsteaming app with a VPN and still can't get it.

Swerve!

Parker Kelly remains 3C and Drury is stuck with the shitters on the 4th line.

Ends up playing wing on the second line taking draws somehow. Don't ask me to explain that shit.

Nahhhh.. If the dude is anything like LOC, and that good on the dot, he'll be 2C in half a game.

As the dust settles Chicago genuinely confuses me.

They trade a prospect to the Avs and retain 50% on Rantanen sending him to Carolina for a 3rd round pick, then basically give Taylor Hall away to Carolina for free.

That makes no sense at all.

Let’s scout 6 straight Avs games, 2 Eagles games, send our GM to Denver for 3 days and 2 games… to retain half of Rantanen’s salary and get no Avs players.

Geniuses.

Taylor Hall for a 3rd round pick and eating $4.625m cap hit.

The origin of the trade discussions with Carolina actually go back to before last June’s draft when the Hurricanes were at a contract impasse with Necas and shopping him around the league, according to league sources.

It was the Avalanche who raised it as a possibility at that stage, but a deal never got close.

Those talks picked back up roughly two months ago and eventually grew more serious. They ultimately got to a point where Carolina had to choose between making a trade for Rantanen or acquiring one of the Canucks stars. Pettersson is signed through 2032, Miller 2030. The Hurricanes didn’t opt for the safest option.

As the dust was settling on Friday’s monster deal, one league source left with a parting thought: “What else is Colorado up to? They’ve opened up more cap space and there’s no way they are stopping here.”
