This trade is pretty much assuming that Mittelstadt has negative value. Is that true? It might be. But I don't see Coyle as any serious upgrade.

Not really, but the whole team was “‘Bruin’ hockey this season & you they were severally lacking skill. You are ignoring content by this member. Show ignored contentIs Mittelstadt a guy who fits in to “Bruin” hockey though?
had to pay extra to dump MittlejostWould have thought Mitts for Coyle straight up would have been fair.
Colorado got better, made their roster more playoff ready, and addressed their needs but paid a heavy price. Pretty similar to what Tampa did, I guess.
When you have a legit window you might as well do what it takes to increases your chances.
Buffalo is trading everybody. Yo, throw Owen Power to NJ.![]()
Enjoyed Coyle as a bruins fan, hell definitely show up and contribute to the avs. Certainly more than Carlo will for the leafs. He’ll be a good fit for the avs, just needs to find his rhythm again. This is the one trade the Avs made that I'm not sure of to be honest.
Coyle is not having a good season. Beauty of sports is you can always remedy that in the playoffs, but Mittelstadt might've done the same.
But more importantly, I'm willing to bet that in the 2 years Mittelstadt has left in his contract, his value will be higher at some point than what it is now.
Coyle on the other hand might just be tailing off. Or I'm positive he is. It comes down to can he still squeeze every drop of his ability in these 1.5 years with the Avs. They clearly are betting on that.
And well, coming off of a career year last year, he might do that. And he was the 3C for Boston when they made the finals, so I get it.
He was pretty good for the Bruins yesterdayMitts is not a fit for the Bruins. Like Coyle as an option for the Avs, even though he can be a maddening player. I've always thought that the best way to get him ready to play like he can is to have someone from the opposite team insult him, his family, and gf at the start of a game. He is similar to Mitts in that they are both too passive mentally, but, unlike Mitts, Coyle can be a beast when he is engaged. He is one strong human.

CMac addressed that point in his presser. He's being brought in to play a heavy minutes shutdown role as 3C. The Avs already have plenty of offensive firepower.
