Right now? As in the last seven games?

Or are we looking at the overall? Because almost all our picks and prospects have progressed pretty well.

A fair question would be to ask if those prospects would’ve developed anyway. That’s certainly possible but it’s also possible that some might not have progressed at all.

I agree. But you can’t ignore the roster.

I think most of us had the team outside the playoffs but improving on last year and that hasn’t happened. But at least part of that can be blamed on a green roster and part of it on injuries.

What I like about MSL is the culture he’s instilled and that our young players are developing nicely. But there’s no denying the season’s tough start. I think a trade for a vet RD would help. I’m not sure that a coaching change would help us at all. It worries me to switch so early when we’ve seen him have success with younger players.

I wouldn't advocate firing MSL, especially since the plan is to somewhat develop him at HC and there isn't a clear good NHL fit that's bilingual, but he's the 5th longest tenured HC in the NHL, and the only one around for longer who hasn't won a cup is Brind'Amour. Montreal (and fans) have been patient, especially considering extenuating circumstances.

Its not just on the personnel, the way the team defends under MSL has always been questionable. Examining and changing the way the team defends or bringing in a more experienced assistant/associate coach is not unreasonable.

Listening to Marty's press conference he sounds like a defeated guy.
He looked like a dude who haven't sleep for a few days in his Long Island pre-game scrum.

One of HuGo said they wanted him to delegate more. I think there are things happening behind the scene that we aren't privy to that are impacting things.

Like the players playing like shit. This used to be fixed in a few games (outside not being ready at puck drop, they never fixed that and it's from before MSL). But it's been 6 games and the same problems are still there. There is some individual improvement here and there, but collectively it's still mostly a shit show.

No one cares
He had never coached to begin with with an odd choice from the start
We couldn't hire another version of Therrien or even Guy Boucher for that matter. I think that giving MSL a shot was a good decision but they should have hired an experienced defensive coach and pp specialist to help him. He could learn the ropes from both and develop his own style along the way.

Yeah I totally agree with that, slowly let him learn from other experienced guys. It was never fair to bring in Burrows , Letowski etc and say 'here you go'. But I also feel the same about our prospects like a Hutson, he is not an NHL player at this point, he's being thrown to the wolves. If we had an established blueline he may be able to figure it out, but we do not.

Every time i hear " the lack of system" i think I'm in a Laffs forum.

There is a system, it's collapsing into tight zone defense but it's not working because it's too tight, which limits outlet passes and we don't have a Jesus Price to bail us out.

Martys "system" is the reason our rookies make mistakes...because it limits the available people to outlet pass. It really favours defenseman that can skate out with the puck, but we have one elite skating defenseman and 6 limited ones.

Ok...keep saying we don't have a system...whatever...

whatever you want to call Bombay’s system, it sucks.

Never seen a team get hemmed in so bad on the cycle. It happens multiple times a game. M vs M is for beer league, they spend so much time chasing its ridiculous.

Hard to blame the goalies, Habs are last in shots against per game. They will let in the bad goal but they are facing too many quality chances.
