Leave him on LTIR until the playoffs…….worked for Vegas
I'm sure it being the Leafs the league would for sure crack down.

Although I don't think Bettman realizes the revenue a cup run would bring to the league, god forbid they win it finally.

Well if I hit a rut and slide into the boards, it won’t affect my future earnings although it could be devastating to the wrist. I’d be at least as careful if I was making 13 for the next 10 years
after all he can get cardio on Terra firma he wouldn’t be out there just cruising if he wanted to keep cardio up by skating, he’d be moving.
I hear ya. I have broken my right hand twice and left arm twice in my younger years when I was “young and dumb”
Mine healed up with no lingering problems other than the screws in my hand and arm . Hopefully you are as lucky as well

I see a lot of talk about leaving him on LTIR no we NEED him back and somebody is going to say "

well we are playing better without him we don't need him."

I understand that they are winning games right now but 7 forwards are out either because of suspension or injury.

That's over half the forward group.

We NEED Matthews back.

Oh it’s coming along fine another week for the cast. X-ray tech said you. Recover well. I replied I’ve had practice
Shattered left ankle 9 screws and a steel plate. Removed a year later, broken nose, artificial left hip, cracked pelvis and socket in the right hip and now fractured right wrist. I’m 69 now, got to start slowing down. lol!

Geez I was serious. I’m worried that when he comes back the new life and spirit of the team will revert back to the way it was before.
I have never seen these guys work and play this hard before, especially Marner. Marner is actually going for it instead of floating around deferring to Mathews. This will be a real test of their mettle because you sure as hell know Matthews won’t battle and scrum like they have been doing

What harm could happen if Matthews takes a half season to recover? All the big stars are doing it.

Alex Nylander may get the chance to become the next Willy Nylander!

I wonder if it has been a thought yet to pull a Vegas/Tampa and leave him on LTIR all season and use the 13 million in cap at the deadline

Too hurt to play but will be out golfing maybe?

I’d still like to know what happened last year in the playoffs that he had to miss games.

He should find Kessel's trainer.

It has been mentioned before, but I don't think this is a one and done injury.

IMO, this will be a recurring injury and eventually be a cause for retirement.

Regardless, this seems to be an injury that he could need time off for at any time, including on March 6, 2025.
